Preview: Senior Day, National Girls and Women in Sports Day - Black Bears host Binghamton on Saturday

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team welcomes Black Bear Nation to Senior Day and the annual National Girls and Women in Sports Celebration, presented by Bangor Savings Bank, when the Black Bears host Binghamton on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Broadcast Details: Saturday's game will be live streamed on ESPN+. The game can also be heard on 95.7 FM and on the Black Bears Sports Network at GoBlackBears.com.

Promotions:
Prior to the game against Binghamton, the Black Bears will host an Interactive Sports Fair in the New Balance Field House at 11 a.m. Representatives from UMaine's varsity programs, along with additional UMaine Club Team representatives, will be on hand to offer youth the opportunity to participate in several drills from a variety of different sports and competitive events.

In addition, the Strong Girls United Foundation will be on hand at the sports fair. Strong Girls United is a foundation whose mission is to empower girls to be strong, confident, and resilient through sport and physical activity alongside mental health and well-being activities.

All youth who RSVP for the Interactive Sports Fair are eligible for complimentary tickets to attend the UMaine women's basketball game vs. Binghamton and will receive a complimentary giveaway item. A ticket will grant access to the Interactive Sports Fair and the UMaine women's basketball game against the Bearcats. Parents and guardians are eligible for a special, group ticket rate of $6 to attend the fair and the game. All tickets may be picked up or purchased at the will call table in the lobby of Memorial Gym on game day. LAST TIME OUT:
ORONO, Maine -- Caroline Dotsey registered a team-high 14 points as the University of Maine women's basketball team dropped a 56-40 decision at home to UAlbany on Thursday evening.

The loss snapped Maine's 19-game home conference win streak and slipped the Black Bears back to 12-14 overall, 7-6 in America East play. The Great Danes improve to 21-5, 11-2 in league action.

Dotsey posted her 13th double-digit scoring performance of the season while adding six rebounds as she finished the evening 6-of-11 from the floor. Caroline Bornemann added seven points and eight rebounds.

Maine shot 14-of-45 (31.1) from the floor with five triples while hitting 7-of-8 from the free throw stripe. UAlbany, which shot 23-of-52 (44.2), controlled the boards with a 32-28 margin while forcing 20 Maine turnovers.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears are 7-4 at home this season, 4-10 on the road, and recently had their 19-game home conference win streak snapped with a Thursday evening loss to UAlbany. Caroline Bornemann continues to lead Maine as she ranks among the top five league leaders in scoring in and rebounding. Bornemann, who recently moved into 23rd on Maine's all-time scoring list with 1,112 points, ranks second in the America East in rebounding (7.9) and fifth in scoring (12.4). Bornemann has posted double-digit scoring 14 times this season, scoring 20+ in two of her last four outings, with double-digit rebound totals in nine games. Caroline Dotsey checks in 10th best in the America East in scoring at 10.5 points per game with double-digits in seven of Maine's 13 conference games. In her first season in the America East, Asta Blauenfeldt has contributed on both sides of the floor as she ranks 24th in the league in scoring (8.4), ninth in assists (2.6), and sixth in steals (1.6). Paula Gallego sets the table for Maine, ranking second in the league in assists (3.6) and second in assist/turnover ratio (1.8). In conference play, Maine's offense ranks fourth best at 58.0 points while defensively the Black Bears are fourth at 55.9 points surrendered. Maine three-point percentage (30.6) is third best while the Black Bears lead the nine-team conference with 6.7 triples made per outing in league play.

A LOOK AT BINGHAMTON :
The Bearcats, 5-8 on the road, are coming off a 65-38 loss at New Hampshire on Thursday evening. Binghamton ranks fourth in the league in scoring (59.5) and fifth in scoring (58.4) and lead the America East with 8.6 steals per outing. Yanniah Boyd leads a very balance Bearcat scoring attack at 9.6 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds. Jadyn Weltz is adding 9.1 points and team-high 2.8 assists while Bella Pucci is scoring at a 9.1 clip with team-best 5.6 rebounds. Binghamton has lost two-straight on the road, at New Hampshire and at Bryant.

SERIES WITH BINGHAMTON:
Maine and Binghamton will meet for the 52nd time with the Black Bears holding a 35-16 advantage. Maine, which has won 24 of the last 28 meetings, had its 11-game win streak against Binghamton snapped with a 69-59 loss earlier this season at Binghamton. Maine and Binghamton first met in 2001, a 63-62 overtime victory by the Black Bears. Maine is 17-4 at home in the head-to-head series and have won six-straight at home against Binghamton. The Bearcats last win in Maine came in 2018.
