WATERVILLE, Maine -- The University of Maine women's swimming & diving team placed second at the Maine State Meet, hosted by Colby College, with 744.5 points.
Charlotte Hoover was Maine's top individual performer as she tied the school record with a second place time of 59.95 in the 100-yard butterfly while adding a runner-up showing in the 100-yard IM (58.26) and taking the bronze in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.47.
Eva Welsh turned in four top-10 marks by placing second in the 400-yard IM (4:33.93), sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.24), seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.26), and fifth in the 100-yard IM (59.84).
The Black Bears placed three in the top-10 of the 400 IM, led by Welsh, while
Erin Madigan placed ninth at 4:46.13 followed by
Kathleen Bendoraitis in 10th at 4:48.02.
Nicolene Harkins took fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (58.35) and placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (53.26).
Emily Yorkievitz finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:56.68 and eighth in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:11.97.
Laura Dube placed eighth in the 100-yard IM (1:00.49) and led three Black Bears in the top-10 of the 100-yard breaststroke with a fifth place showing at 1:06.21.
Gabi Volpe (8th-1:08.65) and
Alexa Coughlan (10th-1:09.76) followed Dube in the 100-yard breaststroke. Coughlan tacked on a fifth place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a final time of 2:28.35.
Maine added a trio of top-10 showing in the distance event, led by Liliana Nelson's fourth place finish in the 1650-free at 17:51.81. Nelson was followed by Madigan in eighth (18:03.75) and
Lydia Williams in 10th at 18:21.03.
Bella Wilinson (5th-2:10.30) and
Alicia Littler (6th-2:10.65) each took top-10 spots in the 200-yard backstroke.
On the board,
Maddie Ruppert took the bronze in the 1-meter with a score of 228.60 and placed fourth on the 3-meter at 202.40. Rachel Silva placed third in the 3-meter (224.20) and fourth in the 1-meter (222.35).
Littler, Hoover, Obszarny, and Yorkievitz were the runner-up in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:31.90.
Hoover, Dube, Obzarny, and Littler teamed up to take fourth in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:47.41.
