ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine field hockey back Nicole Kowalewski has been named the America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.

Kowalewski registered two goals, extending her goal scoring streak to three-straight, to help lead Maine in wins over Bryant and Boston University. 

On Friday, Kowalewski's goal of the penalty corer, would prove to be the game-winner in a 6-1 conference victory over Bryant.

Her goal against Boston University, another rifle off the penalty corner set, gave Maine a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

Defensively, Kowalewski anchored a UMaine defensive line which held the oppositions to just one goal over the two-game weekend.

Kowalewski and the Black Bears return to action on Friday when they host UMass Lowell at 3 p.m.
