ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team returns home on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. to host Vermont in a rematch of the 2024 America East title game and match-up between the second (Vermont) and third (Maine) ranked teams in the America East. Maine puts its four-game win streak, and 18-game home conference win streak, on the line when it hosts Vermont in a rematch of the 2024 America East Championship game. The Catamounts, riding a 7-game win streak, currently sit in second place in the America East at 7-1 in league play.

Caroline Dotsey's career-high 30 point night helped guide Maine to a 65-54 win at New Hampshire on Thursday evening. The win, Maine's ninth in a row over the Wildcats, stretched the Black Bears' current win streak to four-straight.
Dotsey, who registered 23 of her game-high 30 points in the first half, finished the night 11-for-20 with a pair of triples and a 6-of-8 showing from the free throw stripe.
Caroline Bornemann and
Asta Blauenfeldt each chipped in eight points in the victory.
Maine's defense, which forced 13 turnovers in the win, limited the Wildcats to just 16-of-54 (29.6) from the floor.
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears ride a four-game win streak into Saturday's contest. Over the four-game stretch, the Black Bears are averaging 67.8 points per game, limiting the opposition to 50.8, and have controlled the boards by a +12.5 margin. Maine, which is outscoring its opponent 81-46 in the first quarter during the win streak, has been led by
Caroline Dotsey who, coming off a career-high 30 point outing at UNH, is averaging 19.8 points during the win streak. Over the same stretch,
Caroline Bornemann is adding 16.5 points and 8.3 rebounds with
Paula Gallego adding 10.5 points and 4.0 assists. Overall, Bornemann enters play leading Maine, ranking fifth in the league in scoring (12.4) and second in rebounding (7.8). In league play, Bornemann ranks third in scoring (14.8) and tops in rebounding (8.6). Dotsey checks in 10th among league leaders in scoring at 10.8 points per game with double-figures in each of her last four outings.
Olivia Rockwood leads the America East, and ranks 25th nationally, with a 43.0 percent showing from three-point range. Gallego, who has double-digits in each of her last three outings, checks in second among league leaders at 3.9 assists per game. Maine, which leads the America East in conference only scoring at 65.8 points per game through eight conference outings, check in tops in the league and 27th nationally with 8.5 triples made per game. Maine's efficient offense, tops in the league in both assist (16.0) and assist/turnover ratio (1.18), is averaging 61.9 points overall with a 33.3 percent clip from beyond the arc.
A LOOK AT VERMONT:
After dropping its conference opener at UAlbany, the Catamounts have strung together seven consecutive wins including a 53-40 decision over Binghamton on Thursday. Vermont, 4-6 on the road this season, ranks fourth in the league in scoring (60.9) and second in scoring defense (55.0). Anna Olson paces Vermont, ranking fourth in the conference at 13.8 points per game with 5.0 rebounds. Bella Vito leads Vermont in rebounding at 6.4 per outing, fifth best among league leaders, to go along with 8.5 points.
SERIES WITH VERMONT:
Maine and Vermont square off for the first time since the Black Bears defeated the Catamounts, 64-48, in last year's America East title game. This meeting will mark the 105th all-time meeting between the two teams. Maine swept the regular season series last year against the Catamounts, winning 60-48 in Orono before earning a 57-55 road win in Burlington. Maine has won 13 of the last 15 meetings. The Black Bears currently hold a 68-36 advantage in the all-time series, having won 20 of the last 23 meetings. Since 1985, Maine is 27-12 at home against the Catamounts.
