The Black Bears, who have won 17 consecutive home games against conference opponents, meet UMass Lowell whom they defeated earlier in the season, 54-39.

LAST TIME OUT:
ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball (9-10, 4-2 America East) team earned its 17th consecutive home win over a conference opponent with a 61-47 decision with UMBC (9-10, 4-2) on Saturday afternoon.
Caroline Dotsey, who has posted double-digit scoring efforts in nine of her last 13 outings, led the Black Bears with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting to go along with six rebounds.
Olivia Rockwood and
Paula Gallego joined Dotsey in double-figures with 14 points apiece as Gallego nearly tabbed a double-double with nine boards.
Caroline Bornemann aided the balanced attack with eight points and 11 rebounds while
Asta Blauenfeldt chipped in eight points and a career-high nine boards.
Led by Bornemann on the glass, the Black Bears dominated the rebounding with a 40-22 margin to secure the board battle for the third consecutive game. Defensively, Maine limited UMBC to single digit scoring totals in both the first and third periods while forcing 15 turnovers .
Overall, Maine posted a 26-for-60 mark (43.3) from the floor with eight triples.
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
Caroline Bornemann, who recently became the 16th player in program history to reach 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in career, has been impressive in conference play. Bornemann, the reigning America East Player of the Week, is averaging a double-double in league play at 15.7 points and league-leading 10.0 rebounds. Overall, Bornemann ranks fifth in the league in scoring (12.4) and second in rebounding (8.1).
Caroline Dotsey has provided Maine with a spark off the bench as she has registered double-digit scoring in three of her last four and is averaging 9.3 points per game.
Asta Blauenfeldt is adding 9.2 points with a 41.9 percent mark from three-point range. In league play,
Olivia Rockwood is shooting a league-best 53.3 percent from three-point range with a league-leading 2.7 triples per game. Rockwood is averaging 10.2 points per game in America East play. Overall, the Black Bears rank fourth in the league in scoring (61.1). Maine continues to set the pace in the league from downtown, ranking 27th nationally at 8.6 triples made per game and checking in second in the league at 33.2 percent from downtown.
A LOOK AT UMASS LOWELL:
The River Hawks enter play on a seven game losing skid, 0-5 in the league, and 1-6 on the road. UMass Lowell has the league's eighth ranked offense at 43.0 points per game and a league-worst -21.0 scoring margin. The River Hawks are shooting 16.7 from three-point range and 25.9 overall from the field, both bottom ranking in the America East. Abbey Lindsey leads UMass Lowell in scoring at 10.5 points per game. Rayne Durant is adding 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds. Maddie Rice is chipping in 6.4 points and team-high 6.4 rebounds.
SERIES WITH UMASS LOWELL:
Maine and UMass Lowell are meeting for the 26th time in history and second time this season after the Black Bears earned a 54-39 victory at Lowell earlier this season. In that latest meeting,
Asta Blauenfeldt led three double-digit scorers with a game-high 16 points on four triples.
Caroline Bornemann and
Olivia Rockwood each contributed 12 points in the win. Maine, 23-2 all-time against the River Hawks, won the first 13 games of the head-to-head series. Maine has won seven-straight in the head-to-head series. Since the River Hawks joined the America East in 2013, Maine is 13-1 at home in the all-time series. The first-ever meeting between the two teams came on Jan. 23, 2014, a 75-66 victory by the Black Bears in Lowell. Maine and UMass Lowell have met twice in the America East postseason, with Maine winning each meeting. The Black Bears bested UMass Lowell by a final of 49-43 in the quarterfinals a year ago and took down the River Hawks in the 2020 semifinals.
