Preview: Maine set to host Merrimack in Maine State Pride game in Portland, Dec. 13

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team will host Merrimack College for a single conference game in Portland at the Cross Insurance Arena on Dec. 13. The 'Maine State Pride' game time is set for 6:00 pm.

BLACK BEARS' LAST TIME OUT:

  • Maine faced #13 BU and #15 UConn last weekend, dropping both games. The Black Bears earned one point on the weekend, as Saturday's loss came after pushing UConn into overtime.

  • Senior forward Adriana van de Leest had a four-point weekend, assisting all four of Maine's goals. 

  • Freshman Kendall Sundby had a three-point weekend, tallying two powerplay goals and one assist.

  • Frederikke Foss scored her first career goal in the game against UConn on Saturday. 

  • Kiia Lahtinen saw both games between the pipes, making 65 saves between the two games.

PREVIOUS MATCHUPS WITH MERRIMACK

  • Maine faced the Warriors four times last season, three in league play, and once in the Opening Round of playoffs. 

  • Merrimack stole all four matchups from Maine, all in close one-goal games. Two losses came in overtime, and one from a shootout.

  • The overall record between the two teams is 13-12-2 in favor of Maine.

  • Goaltenders Calli Hogarth and Margaux Favre have been splitting time in goal. Hogarth leads with a 2.81 GAA and .909 save %. Favre has a 2.92 GAA and .905 save %.

  • Maine will kick off the second half of the year with a roadtrip to the University of New Hampshire on Jan. 3 and Boston College on Jan 5. Game times are set for 6 pm and 2 pm, respectively.
