Albany, NY - The University of Maine field hockey program had their season come to end as they were defeated by #2 New Hampshire, 5-3.
UNH scored twice in the opening quarter, once in the 5' minute and once in the 6' minute.
UNH added two more goals in the 21' and 25' before the Black Bears broke through on the scoreboard later on in the 25' minute.
Goal Five: Kate Richardson tallied her seventh goal of the season and second of the tournament as she tipped a Poppy Lambert (8) shot on the penalty corner.
Goal Six: Alexandra Sacker made it back-to-back penalty corner chances that the Black Bears scored on as she fired a shot from the top of the circle that beat the goalkeeper on their right side. Furber (4) and Geniti (6) picked up the assists on the goal. For Sacker, the goal was her fourth of the year, first of the tournament.
Goal Seven: Furber got on the scoreboard herself as she grabbed a loose ball in the circle and beat the goalkeeper on their right side to bring the Black Bears within one right before the half. The score was her fourth of the season, first of the tournament.
UNH got the scoring going in the second half as they scored in the 37' minute.
Notes on the Game:
- Poppy Lambert concluded her collegiate career with 58Â career goals as she is the all-time record holder in program history.
- UNH outshot the Black Bears, 18-12.
- Maine generated three more corners than the Wildcats, winning the battle 7-4.
- Rozárie Mrázová denied a penalty stroke in the second half.
Maine's season came to an end in the contest as they finished the season with a 11-9 record.
