Box Score Albany, NY - The University of Maine field hockey program came away with the victory in a back-and-forth contest against #6 UC Davis, 4-3.
UC Davis scored the opening goal in the 17' minute of the contest.
Goal Two: Maine got the scoreboard in the 20' minute as Olivia Geniti netted her ninth goal of the season and first of the Tournament as she collected a rebound off of the penalty corner shot and scored the goal.
Goal Three: Micaela Grajales netted her third goal of the season, first of the Tournament as she grabbed a rebound off of the Black Bear penalty corner chance and fired through the legs of the UC Davis goalkeeper.
UC Davis made it 2-2 in the 25'.
Goal Five: Poppy Lambert netted her eighth goal of the season, first of the Tournament on a penalty stroke opportunity. With the goal, she netted her 58th career goal, making her the new program record holder for career goals in Maine history.
UC Davis made it 3-3 in the 37'.
Goal Seven: Kate Richardson put the Black Bears back in front at 4-3 as she netted her sixth goal of the season and first of the Tournament as she deflected a great pass from Poppy Lambert (7) up and over the UC Davis goalkeeper for the score.
Notes on the Game:
- Maine outshot UC Davis 25-13 on the day.
- Maine generated two more corners, winning the battle 8-6.
- Poppy Lambert became the all-time leading scorer in program history as she netted her 58th career goal.
