Preview: Maine hosts UMass Lowell to start two-game America East week

Maine women’s soccer will kick off a two-game America East week on Thursday night when it hosts UMass Lowell at Mahaney Diamond.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will kick off a two-game America East week on Thursday night when it hosts UMass Lowell at Mahaney Diamond.
 
Kick off the rematch of the 2023 America East Championship game is set for 6 p.m., with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
 
On Sunday, Oct. 6, the Black Bears will travel to Bryant to face the Bulldogs in a 1 p.m. conference clash. The Maine-Bryant game will stream live on ESPN+.

ABOUT MAINE
• Maine enters Thursday night at 6-1-2 overall and 2-0 in America East play after a come-from-behind 3-2 win at Vermont on Sunday.
• Trailing 2-0 in the 62nd minute, Julie Lossius and Kristina Kelly tied the game up before Jordane Pinette scored the game-winning goal with less than three minutes to go.
• Pinette has a team-leading 10 points and four goals while four other Black Bears have at least eight points each in Kristina Kelly (2-4-8), Lara Kirkby (3-2-8), Kayla Kraemer (3-2-8) and Abby Kraemer (2-4-8).
• Maine is the first America East team since 2019 to have five players with at least eight points each.
• Maine's win against Binghamton on Sept. 22 extended the Black Bears' home unbeaten streak to 22 games, tying an America East record.

ABOUT UMASS LOWELL
• The River Hawks enter Thursday night's game at 1-7-2 overall and 0-1 in America East play … UMass Lowell fell to UMBC, 2-1, on Sept. 29 in the conference opener.
• Calliste Brookshire and Gaby Eckroth are tied for the team lead in points with four each … Brookshire has one goal and two assists while Eckroth has two goals.
• Goalkeeper Taylor Burgess has played the majority of minutes for the River Hawks, going 1-6-2 with a 1.76 goals against average, 55 saves, .786 save percentage and one shutout.
• UMass Lowell was tabbed fourth in the America East preseason poll.

• Maine is 7-4-1 in the all-time series with UMass Lowell.
• The Black Bears won the first-ever meeting back in 2013, 3-1.
• Maine and UMass Lowell met in the 2023 America East Championship game, with the Black Bears fighting to a 3-2 win in overtime … Lara Kirkby scored twice, including the 105th minute winner, while Kayla Kraemer also found the back of the net.

• The Bulldogs sit at 4-4-3 overall and 2-0-0 in America East games … Bryant picked up a 4-3 win over NJIT in the conference opener before going on to top UAlbany on the road, 2-0.
• Jordyn Collins has a team-leading three goals and two assists for eight points … three other Bulldogs have scored multiple goals.

• Last season, the Black Bears picked up a 3-0 win in Orono to extend the winning streak in the series to six games.
• The first-ever meeting between the two teams came in 2008 with a 1-1 tie.
