ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine women's soccer team and head coach Scott Atherley announced six additions to the 2026 roster on Tuesday. The six members of the Class of 2030 join with two transfers announced in January to complete the eight-member recruiting class for the 2026 season.

"We are happy to be welcoming Hannah, Ashley, Juliane, Jenna, Thea and Juliette to our team," said head coach Scott Atherley. "They are exceptional students, players and people and they will complement our strong core of returning players."

First-year student-athletes Thea Arkdal-Ranebro, Juliane Belanger, Ashley Kraemer, Jenna McIntyre, Juliette Portugais and Hannah Wehmeyer combine with transfers Sandrine Brault (Oklahoma State) and Isabelle Meadows (UConn) to make up the eight new Black Bears.

Most recently played club soccer for Hamilton United, winning the 2026 Provincial Championship and silver at nationals … also previously played club soccer for Burlington Force, Burlington Bayhawks and Waterloo United … three-sport athlete and two-time athlete of the year at Resurrection Catholic … won back-to-back district titles in field hockey and ice hockey and three-straight in soccer … named a district all-star in both hockey and soccer … has three older sisters: Kayla, Abby and Caitlin … Kayla and Abby both played soccer at Maine while Caitlin plays ice hockey at Minnesota Duluth … mom, Connie, played basketball at University of Waterloo … dad, Chris, played ice hockey at University of Waterloo. 

Coach Atherley on Ashley: "Ashley is a ruthless competitor. She is strong, composed and intelligent on the ball. Without it, she is gritty, courageous and willing to do the necessary work to be an effective first and second ball winner."

Spent first two collegiate seasons at UConn in the Big East ... prior to joining the Huskies, played club soccer for NEFC, winning a national title in 2021 ... also lettered all four years at Pope Francis Preparatory School and scored 174 goals and added 48 assists while earning All-Region, All-State, All-Western Massachusetts, All-League and PVSOA MVP honors ... helped lead Pope Francis to Western Massachusetts championships in 2022 and 2023.

Coach Atherley on Isabella: "Bella is an athletic center forward. She can hold up play and stretch defenses with her speed and deliberate runs. Bella can also score goals and she is a threat to strike from anywhere around the goal. Without the ball, Bella is a relentless chaser and she will fit into our pressing set up perfectly."

Played club soccer for Royal Beauport … represented Quebec at the 2025 Canada Games … had five goals and three assists in the 2025 Quebec Cup … scored 25 goals in 18 matches in 2024-25 and finished as the 2024–25 Golden Boot winner ... had seven goals in the 2026 Quebec Cup.

Coach Atherley on Juliane: "Juliane is a fast, feisty attacking player and someone who can score goals from central and wide areas. She works exceptionally hard with and without the ball and she shines in both transition moments. Juliane is someone who will bring a lot of energy to our team by virtue of her personality."

Coach Atherley on Jenna: "Jenna is an imposing, athletic defender and someone who plays with real physicality. She is hard in the tackle and unafraid to get stuck in. Jenna is cool and composed on the ball and she can effectively break lines when in possession."

Played club soccer for Jitex BK since 2024 … finished second in 2024 and third in 2025 at the Gothia Cup … also played for Lerkil and Anneberg and was a part of two second place finishes in the Eskilscupen …also competes in track and field, earning fifth place in the triple jump at the indoor Junior Nationals … sister Smilla is on the track and field team at Temple. 

Coach Atherley on Thea: "Thea is an athletic keeper. She has great size, reflexes and explosiveness. She reads the game exceptionally well and communicates clearly.  Her poise under pressure, especially with the ball at her feet is a great strength of hers. She will fit right in regarding our style of play."

Has played the last two seasons for DSC Arminia Bielefeld … played the 2023-24 season for FSV Gutersloh under coach Annabel Jäger … won North Rhine Westphalia Cup and finished second in the U-17 Bundesliga with FSV Gutersloh … member of the North Rhine Westphalia regional team that won the Landerpokal. 

Coach Atherley on Hannah: "Hannah is a clever and versatile attacking player and someone who can play a number of positions. Her vision, distribution and passing range are real strengths. Her tactical acumen is advanced for a player her age and she will thrive in our set up playing alongside our experienced players."

Spent 2025 freshman season at Oklahoma State in the Big 12 ... appeared in 15 games and made two starts for the Cowgirls ... prior to joining OSU in the spring of 2025, was a three-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com ... has represented Canada at the youth national team level, debuting with the program in 2022 and helping the U15 squad earn a silver medal at the CONCACAF Championship.

Coach Atherley on Sandrine: "Sandrine is a dynamic attacking player and someone who brings in valuable international and collegiate experience. She is fast and tricky with the ball at her feet and calm under pressure and in tight spaces. Sandrine is an intelligent decision maker in the final third. The combination of her talent and relentless mentality will bolster our attack considerably."

Coach Atherley on Juliette: "Juliette is a talented keeper who projects a strong and confident presence. She is a quick and reflexive shot stopper. Juliette is good with her feet and she will be an asset in our build up."
