Box Score Williamsburg, Va. -- The University of Maine football team trailed No. 5 William & Mary, 7-3, at the half. However, the Tribe would outscore Maine 21-0 in the second half to take a 28-3 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Maine's defense limited William & Mary to 59 passing yards and forced a fumble. Abdul Stewart led the defense with a career-high 10 tackles while Kahzir Brown and Darius McKenzie each added eight stops. McKenzie forced Maine's fumble and added a tackle for loss.

Following a scoreless first quarter, which featured four punts, William & Mary broke through first on a one yard plunge into the end zone by Bronson Yoder with 13:03 left in the first half.

After Maine's defense forced its fourth, three-and-out of the first half, the Black Bears took over at their own 49. Three plays into the drive, Derek Robertson slipped a short pass out to Tristen Kenan who scampered down the sideline for a 24-yard gain. Maine kept charging as it advanced the ball down to the 2-yard line. However, the drive would stall as Cody Williams came on to convert a 20-yard field goal, cutting the deficit to 7-3.

The score would hold to enter the half as the Black Bears limited William & Mary to just 10 passing yards and 3-of-8 mark on third down through the first two quarters of action.

The Tribe extended its lead to 14-3, 3:58 into the second half. On the second play of Maine's first drive in the third quarter, Robertson was intercepted at the Maine 32 by Ryan Poole. Poole returned the takeaway down to the Maine 15. Six plays later, Darius Wilson rushed around the edge and across the goal line for a one yard touchdown run.

William & Mary pushed its lead to 21-3 when it completed a six play, 86-yard drive with a two yard receiving score by JT Mayo.

The lead grew to 28-3 on Martin Lucas' four yard rushing score with 3:02 remaining in regulation.

Maine was unable to cut the deficit, falling 28-3 to the Tribe.
