Box Score Lowell, MA – The University of Maine baseball team dropped the second game of the Friday doubleheader against the River Hawks, 2-1.
 
Sixth Inning: Gianni Gambardella began the sixth inning on the mound for the Black Bears. Caleb Leys went 5 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit, 4 walks and striking out 5 batters.
 
Matt Tobin brought home the opening run of the contest for the River Hawks as he hit a double down the left field line.
 
Seventh Inning: Dean O'Neill got the Black Bears back even at 1-1 as he hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring Nick White (2B).
 
UMass Lowell retook the lead as Jacob Humphrey scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.
 
Eighth Inning: Joshua Becker's day came to an end after recording the first out of the eighth inning. He allowed 1 unearned run across 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 hits, 2 hit batters and struck out 6. LJ Keeven was called on in relief.
 
Joshua Becker (3-2) picked up the win for UMass Lowell.
 
LJ Keevan (1) picked up the save.
 
Gianni Gambardella (4-2) took the loss for Maine.
 
Maine (22-15, 12-2 AE) split the doubleheader on Friday and will be looking to win the weekend series next time out against the River Hawks. Game three is TBD due to weather.
