Box Score Rock Hill, SC – The University of Maine baseball team came away with the victory in the series finale against Winthrop on Sunday afternoon, 10-7 in extra innings.

Matt McElwain scores the first run of the contest as he laid down a sac-bunt to the first basemen, scoring
Connor Goodman (1B).

Winthrop answered as McKinley Erves stole home in the bottom of the frame. Brody Hopkins scoring on an error later in the frame. Ramses Cordova hit a sac fly and Nate Chronis scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-run inning for Winthrop.

Fifth Inning: Maine got one back as
Jake Rainess (1B/SB) scored on a wild pitch thrown by Riley Huge.

Following a walk by
Quinn McDaniel and a single for
Jeremiah Jenkins, Winthrop went to their bullpen as they called on Brody Hopkins from center field to pitch.

Huge lasted 4 and 1/3 innings on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, 3 walks and striking out 5.

Jake Rainess grabbed the Black Bears their first lead of the afternoon as he hit a no-doubt grand slam to left field, scoring

Colby Emmertz (BB). The home run was Rainess's fourth of the season and second of the weekend.

Seventh Inning: Nate Butcher began the seventh inning for Winthrop, spelling the end of the day for Brody Hopkins on the mound. Hopkins allowed 4 earned runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and striking out 3.

Butcher was chased from the contest in the same frame he was called upon as Winthrop turned to Parker Whittle in the seventh inning. Butcher lasted just 2/3 of the inning, allowing 1 hit, 1 walk and 1 hit batter.

Justin Baeyens was called on in relief of
