Box Score Merion Station, PA. – The University of Maine baseball team slugged their way to victory on Saturday afternoon as they took game two of the weekend series at SJU, 17-12.

First Inning: Nate Thomas singled home the first run of the game for SJU. Ryan Weingartner singled home the second run of the frame. Justin Igoe capped off the three-run inning with a sac fly.

Tyler Nielsen in the bottom of the first frame. Nielsen last 1/3 of the first inning, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, 2 walks and 1 hit batter.

Second Inning:
Caleb Leys began the second frame on the mound for the Black Bears in a bullpen day as Carson did his job out of the pen, retiring both batters he faced in the first inning jam.

SJU scored four runs in the second inning, all of which were unearned due to three Black Bear errors in the frame.

Third Inning:
Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears going in the right direction as he hit his seventh home run of the season, this one being a two-run shot to right field.

Fourth Inning:
Dylan McNary got the Black Bears another run closer as he was hit by a pitch, scoring
Jake Marquez (BB).

Matt McShane was called on in relief in the fourth inning, bringing about the end of the day for Ryan DeSanto. DeSanto allowed 5 runs on 2 hits, 3 walks, 3 hit batters and striking out 6 across 3 and 1/3 innings of work.

Jake Rainess made it a 4-7 game as he drew a bases loaded walk, scoring

Fifth Inning: Brett Callahan plated a run for SJU on a single. Ryan Cesarini hit an RBI single in the frame as well.

Quinn McDaniel plated a run for the Black Bears in the sixth inning as he singled to left field, scoring
Dean O'Neill (FC) on the play.

Jeremiah Jenkins made it a whole new ball game as he hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, scoring
Dylan McNary (1B),
Jake Rainess (BB) and
Quinn McDaniel (1B). The home run was Jenkin's second of the game and eighth on the season.

Frank Ciccone was called on to finish the frame for SJU. Matt McShane lasted 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks and no strikeouts.

The Black Bears turned the ball over to
Ryan Scott to begin the sixth inning, bringing about the end of the day for
Caleb Leys. Leys lasted 4 innings in relief, allowing 7 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits, 6 walks and striking out 8.

Quinn McDaniel put the Black Bears in front for the first time in the contest as he hit a three-run home run to left field, scoring
Dean O'Neill (HBP) and
Jake Rainess (1B) on the play. The home run was McDaniel's fifth of the year.

Andrew Chevarie came on in relief for the Black Bears to try and wrap up the seventh inning as
Ryan Scott lasted 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk.

Eighth Inning: Luke Zimmerman came on in a bases loaded situation with only one out for SJU. Ciccone allowed 5 runs over 1 and 2/3 innings of work, 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 hit batters and striking out 1.

Dylan McNary singled home a pair of runs to stretch the Black Bear lead out to 15-11. He drove home

Geoff Mosseau came in with two runners on and one out in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Black Bears. Chevarie went 2/3 of an inning, allowed 1 run on 4 hits.

Quinn McDaniel kept his perfect day at the plate going as he went 5 for 5 on the day as he launched with his second run of the day, this one a two-run shot to left field, scoring
Jake Rainess (1B). McDaniel made it a 7-RBI day with his sixth home run of the year.

Luc Lavigueur was called on the wrap up the contest in the ninth with two runners on and no one out. Mosseau went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no runs on 2 walks.

Lavigueur slammed the door in the ninth, allowing no runs on no hits, 1 walk and striking out 2.

Maine came away with the victory after trailing by seven runs to win, 17-12.
