Box Score College Park, MD – The University of Maine baseball team was swept by Maryland after losing the series finale on Sunday afternoon, 9-1.
 
Third Inning: 
Colby Emmertz got the Black Bears on the board first on the afternoon as he hit his first home run of the season, a deep ball to left center field.
 
Maryland plated four runs in the bottom of the third on a three hit-by-pitches with the bases loaded and a bases-loaded walk.
 
Fourth Inning: Nate Haberthier was called on in relief of Kyle McCoy in a scheduled short outing for McCoy. McCoy allowed 1 run on 1 hit, no walks and struck out 3 over 3 innings of work.
 
Noah Lewis's day came to an end in the bottom of the fourth inning as he just never found much rhythm on a very off day for him. Lewis allowed 6 earned runs on 3 hits, 6 walks, 3 hit batters and struck out 2 over 3 and 1/3 innings of work.
 
Andrew Chevarie was called on for his second time in the weekend series. He made his collegiate debut in Friday's matchup.
 
Fifth Inning: Maine turned the ball over to 
Colton Carson to begin the fifth inning as Chevarie wrapped up the fourth inning for the Black Bears, allowing no runs on 1 hit, 1 walk and double play ball put in play.
 
Sixth Inning: 
Luc Lavigueur began the sixth frame on the mound for the Black Bears. Carson turned in a solid fifth inning as he allowed no runs on no hits, 1 walk and a double play turned.
 
Seventh Inning: 
Caleb Leys began the frame on the mound for the Black Bears. Lavigueur turned in a scoreless sixth inning, allowing no hits and 3 walks.
 
Bobby Zmarzlak hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 7-1 game.
 
Eighth Inning: David Falco was called on in relief for Maryland to begin the eighth inning. Nate Haberthier had a stellar relief appearance for Maryland as he allowed no runs over 4 innings of work, 2 hits, 1 walk and striking out 8.
 
Justin Baeyens came on in the eighth inning for relief of 
Caleb Leys. Leys allowed 1 earned run on 1 hit, 2 walks and striking out 1 in his 1 inning of work.
 
Matt Woods hit a solo home run in the bottom of the frame to increase their lead. Elijah Lambros hit an RBI double later in the inning.
 
Maryland came away with the victory, 9-1.
 
Nate Haberthier (2-2) picked up the win in relief for Maryland.
 
Noah Lewis (0-1) took the loss for Maine.
 
Maine (3-9) will face off against George Mason on Tuesday, March 14. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
