UMBC outscored Maine 28-3 off turnovers as the Retrievers forced 19 Maine turnovers in the contest.

The Black Bears went 20-of-47 from the floor (42.6) and were outrebounded for the first time in four games.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:

The Black Bears look to return to their winning ways after having their four game win streak snapped last time at out UMBC. Adrianna Smith, the America East leader in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (9.1), is fresh off a 33 point outing. The point total marked Smith's third time this season besting 30 points. Smith is averaging a double-double (22.8 points/10.8 rebounds) against league competition and enters with a 13 game double-figure scoring streak. Caroline Bornemann is coming off her ninth double-digit scoring performance of the season and checks in ninth among league leaders in rebounding (6.1) and 20th in scoring (9.7). Her 1.4 triples per game are good for 10th among league leaders. The Black Bears have held four of their last five opponents to 50 points or fewer and have won the rebounding battle in 10 of their last 12. The Black Bears rank sixth in the league in scoring (58.9) and fourth in scoring defense (60.4) while ranking seventh in the country and tops in the league in three-point defense (25.2%). Maine continues to rank at the top of the America East with 6.7 triples made per game.

A LOOK AT VERMONT:

The Catamounts enter Wednesday evening red hot and riding an eight game win streak, it's longest such streak since 2008, after a 53-49 victory over UAlbany on Saturday afternoon. Vermont, 9-2 at home this season, boasts the ninth ranked defense in the country as it allows just 53.9 points per game to the opposition. The Catamounts rank second in the league in scoring (61.6) while checking in 10th in the country from three-point range at 37.7 percent to go along with a conference best 43.1 percent from the field. Vermont checks in tops in the conference, 37th nationally, with just 13.6 turnovers per game. Anna Olson is adding 12.2 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds while Catherine Gilwee ranks second in the conference from downtown (40.6%), at 11.0 points per game.
