Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team concludes its regular season by hosting Binghamton on Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. inside Memorial Gymnasium.
With its win over New Hampshire on Wednesday, Maine clinched being a high-seed for a quarterfinal game for the 10th straight season and will host its quarterfinal on March 1 at 7 p.m. Maine has won six in a row against the Bearcats, including a 50-46 decision earlier this year on the road, and enters play 14-4 all-time at home in the series.

Orono, Maine -- Caroline Bornemann led three Black Bears in double-digits as Maine earned a season sweep of New Hampshire with a 80-67 victory over the Wildcats on Wednesday evening. With the win, Maine locked up the right to host an America East quarterfinal contest at Memorial Gymnasium on Wednesday, March 1.
Bornemann hit the first four triples she took as she finished with a game-high 22 points to lead Maine's scoring efforts while snatching seven rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists. Anne Simon, who returned to action after missing the last eight games due to an injury, poured in 19 points to go along with five steals, four assists, and three boards. Adrianna Smith stretched her double-digit scoring streak to 18 in a row with 19 points with seven boards and four assists.
Maine, which shot 10-of-15 in the first quarter, finished the evening 27-of-56 (48.2) from the floor with eight triples and a season-high 18 free throws. The Black Bears forced 16 turnovers with a season-high 10 steals, leading to a 21-8 edge in points off turnovers and a 17-0 margin in fast break points.
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
Adrianna Smith leads the Black Bears, checking in tops among America East leaders in both scoring (17.5) and rebounding (9.1) with 14 double-doubles to rank 17th in the nation in that category. In all, Smith ranks among the top six in the America East in seven categories. Smith, who is averaging 23.0 and 10.3 rebounds in league play, is looking to become the first player since UVM's Sheri Turnbull (1993-94) to average 20 points and 10 rebounds during conference play. Smith is currently riding an 18 game double-digit scoring streak, with 20 or more points in seven of her last nine. Anne Simon returned to action in Maine's last game after missing eight games due to an injury suffered at Binghamton on 1/21. In her return, she tallied 19 points with five steals and four assists, marking her fifth double-digit scoring performance in 11 games this season. Caroline Bornemann hit four triples in the first quarter against UNH en route to a game-high 22 point night. Bornemann, now with 10 double-digit scoring performances on the season, ranks 22nd in the league in scoring (9.5), 10th in rebounding (6.0), and nine in three pointers made per game (1.4).
A LOOK AT BINGHAMTON:
The Bearcats, currently sitting comfortably in the sixth seed of the America East standings, are currently in the midst of a four game losing skid after most recently suffering a 67-54 decision to Vermont. Binghamton, whose last win came on Feb. 8 against New Hampshire, is 4-9 on the road this season and last won a road game on Jan. 28 at Bryant. Binghamton enters with the league's fourth ranked offense (61.2) and fourth ranked defense (61.2) while checking in second in the league in rebounding (36.4). The Bearcats force the most turnovers (17.6) in the America East but give it away (15.3) the second most. Denai Bowman leads the Bearcats at 12.8 points per game with 3.4 assists. Ella Wanzer (11.4) ad Genevieve Coleman (10.5) are adding double-figures while Clare Taeger leads the rebounding column at 8.7 per game. Jadyn Weltz ranks second in the America East at 4.2 assists per game.
SERIES WITH BINGHAMTON:
Maine and Binghamton will meet for the 46th time with the Black Bears holding a 30-15 advantage. Maine, which has won 19 of the last 22 meetings, will be looking for its seventh-straight win over Binghamton after taking the earlier meeting this season, 50-46, in Binghamton. In that win, Adrianna Smith led the way with 17 points and 15 boards. Anne Simon enters the series averaging 16.7 points per game and 5.3 rebounds in seven career games with the Bearcats. Maine and Binghamton first met in 2001, a 63-62 overtime victory by the Black Bears. Maine is 14-4 at home in the series.
