Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's swimming & diving team dropped its America East meet with Vermont, 170-127, on Saturday afternoon.
Maine, which swept both relay events, was led by
Kayla Loughman who registered a pair of individual wins while serving as part of the Black Bears' winning relay teams. Loughman took gold in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:06.25 and touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:25.70.
Madison Edwards posted a pair of runner-up showings, finishing second in both the 100-yard backstroke (59.99) and the 200 back (2:11.36).
Eva Welsh placed second in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.21) and 200 IM (2:12.30) while taking third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.56.
Carmen Braden took silver in the 200 free (1:57.70) and third in the 500 freestyle race (5:19.89) while
Aubrey St. Pierre added a runner-up showing in the 100 breaststroke at 1:08.11. The Black Bears took the top four spots in the 100 breaststroke event.
On the boards,
Haylie Calver and
Ashley LeClaire tied for second in the 1m with identical scores of 233.78. Calver took second on the 3m board at 257.18 followed by LeClaire in third at 249.98.
Maine took gold in the 200 medley relay as the team of Edwards, Loughman,
Isabelle Irani, and
Kennady Kilger teamed up to the touch the wall with a winning time of 1:49.92. Loughman,
Hannah Deighan,
Mia Poirier, and Kilger took first in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:38.98.
