Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine men's and women's swimming & diving teams will officially open their seasons on Friday evening when they host Maine Maritime Academy at 5 p.m. at Stanley M. Wallace Pool.
Friday evening's meet will be streamed live at
AmericaEast.TV.
The women's swim & dive team placed sixth at the 2023 America East Championships, compiling 321.5 points. On the women's side, the Black Bears feature top performers
Kayla Loughman (6th in 100 breast, 9th in 200 breast, 8th in 200 IM at AE Championships);
Morgan Bui (9th in 100 breast, 10th in 200 breast),
Kennady Kilger (grad transfer from Ohio State),
Isabelle Irani (12th in 100 fly, 13th in 200 fly, and
Ashley LeClaire (2nd in 1m, 6th in 3m).
On the men's team, the Black Bears return a strong cast from a team which placed sixth at the America East Championships with 273 points. The men welcome back leaders in
Finn Devers (11th in 100 free, 6th in 200 free),
Max Ginsburg,
Cam Watelet (10th in 100 fly, 12th in 200 fly),
Julian LaPietra, and
Riley Clark on the boards.
