Orono, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team returns home for the first time since November 12, 2022 for Hockey East matchups against Boston University and #15 Boston College.

Black Bears Notes and Notables

  • The Black Bears have a season record of 11-14-0, 8-10-0.
  • Luisa Welcke and Lilli Welcke are tied leading the Black Bears in points with 16. Luisa Welcke has recorded seven goals and nine assists and Lilli Welcke has recorded four goals and twelve assists.
  • Maine is coming off a 0-2 weekend against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats and #7 Northeastern Huskies.
  • Luisa Welcke, Alyssa Wruble, Mira Seregély, and Emma Lange each recorded a goal against the Wildcats in the back and forth 4-5 loss on Jan.13. 
  • More Black Bears earned points over the weekend as Lilli Welcke and Ava Stevenson each picked up an assist on Luisa's goal. Rahel Enzler also picked up a point with an assist on Mira Seregély's goal. Lastly, Kennedy Little and Ida Kuoppala each had an assist on Emma Lange's final goal of the game.
  • Brooklyn Oakes was in net against New Hampshire talling 25 saves.
  • Anna LaRose made her fifth appearance in net this season against #7 Northeastern. She ended with 34 saves.
The Series with Boston University Terriers
  • Since 2006, Maine and Boston University have an overall record of 22-24-1.
  • Earlier this season the Black Bears swept the Terriers with 3-0 and 3-2 victories.

About the Terriers

  • Boston University has a season record of 7-15-1, 6-12-1. 
  • Julia Nearis leads the Terriers in points with 16 on eight goals and eight assists.
  • The Terriers are coming off a Tuesday night tie over Providence College where they also won the shootout.
  • Julia Shaunessy and Julia Nearis each secured the first two goals of the game that led to the tie.
