ORONO, ME - The University of Maine baseball team will head out on a 5-game road trip to Florida as they will face off against North Dakota State University for three games and Stetson for two games.
For the Black Bears, they have been led offensively by
Quinn McDaniel, who has his early season marks at impressive numbers of .306/.381/.528. He most recently had a weekend against George Washington in which he drove in 5 RBI's and hit his first home run of the season.
Colby Emmertz has been off to a hot-start for the Black Bears, slashing .429/.474/.500 to begin his 2022 campaign, splitting time with
Ryan Turenne behind the plate.
The Black Bears have been given solid starts all-season by their Friday starter,
Brett Erwin, and their Saturday starter,
Caleb Leys.
For Erwin, he has started all 3 Friday matchups for the Black Bears, and in those 18.0 innings pitched, he has a 3.50 ERA, a WHIP of 1.33 and a 21/4 Strikeout-to-Walk ratio.
Leys, who picked up his first collegiate win back on Saturday against George Washington, has begun his career as a Black Bear strong. He is pitched to a 3.68 ERA over 14 and 2/3 innings, a 0.89 WHIP and a 14/5 Strikeout-to-Walk ratio.
The Black Bears projected rotation for the weekend series against NDSU is Erwin, Leys and TBD.
The Black Bears are set to face NDSU for games on Mar. 11-13 and then Stetson University for a games on Mar. 15 and 16.
Following the 5-game trip to Florida, the Black Bears will being conference play as they fly back north for 3 games at Binghamton, kicking off America East Action.
