PROVO, Ut. -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by BYU, 14-0, on Wednesday evening at Gail Miller Field.

The Cougars posted six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Emily Reid relieved Gabbie Siciliano and found her way out of the jam.
BYU added to their lead with a single run in the second, four runs in the third, and three in the fourth. The 14-0 lead would stand as Maine dropped the single game at BYU.
Notes:
Next: The Black Bears return to the diamond Wednesday, March 16 for a doubleheader at Utah Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
