Baseball Drops Final Matchup Before Conference Play

Box Score DELAND, FL – The University of Maine baseball team dropped both weekday matchups at Stetson, losing the Tuesday matchup, 12-1.
 
Second Inning: Stetson would put up a big inning by collecting 5 hits and scoring 6 runs to get a big lead early in the contest.
 
Colin Fitzgerald's day would come to an end as a result of the long second inning as he managed to go 2.0 innings, allowing 6 runs (all earned) and striking out one.
 
Third Inning: Maine got a run back in the top of the third as Jeremiah Jenkins drove in a run on a ground ball to second base.
 
Stetson would have an answer in a big way in the bottom of the third as Kyle Ball hit a 2-run home run to deep left field to give his side an 8-1 lead.
 
Fifth Inning: Yohann Dessureault made the game 10-1 for Stetson as he hit a 2-run home run to right field in the bottom of the frame, also driving in Dylan Brazil.
 
Sixth Inning: Dylan Brazil drew a bases loaded walk by Black Bears pitcher, Marshall Smaracko, to bring in a run.
 
Fitzgerald took the loss for the Black Bears.
 
Danny Garcia picked up the win for Stetson as he pitched 5.0 innings, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 6.
 
Maine, who wraps up their non-conference portion of the schedule, heads back north to Binghamton as they face the Bearcats for three games on Friday, March 18-21.
