ORONO, ME - The University of Maine baseball team is heading to Cary, NC to face off against Penn State for 3 games and William & Mary for a single game on the weekend of Feb. 25-27.
The Black Bears, who are coming off of a weekend of being swept against then #8 ranked LSU, will be looking to get into the win column for the first time in the 2022 season.
Brett Erwin, the game one starter at LSU and the game one projected starter at Penn State on Friday, will be looking to build off of a solid outing he had against the Tigers, where he allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, while striking out 7 in 5 innings of work. The other projected starters on the weekend are
Caleb Leys on Saturday in game one of the double-header, and
Colin Fitzgerald for game 2 of the double-header against Penn State. The Black Bears have yet to announce their game 4 starter against William & Mary on Sunday.
Offensively, the Black Bears drove in 15 runs at LSU and will be looking to build off of some strong at-bats on the weekend.
Joe Bramanti had a big weekend, driving in 5 runs and hitting a home run.
Scout Knotts (2 hits, 1 HR) and
Jake Marquez (4 hits, two doubles) also had good weekends.
The first game of the weekend is scheduled to being at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, Feb. 25.
