Field Hockey Clinches Third-Straight Regular Season Championship with Win over Stanford

Four Different Scorers Tallied Goals in the Win for the Black Bears

Box Score Orono, ME – The University of Maine field hockey team clinched their third-straight America East Regular Season Championship as they defeated Stanford on Friday afternoon, 4-2.
 
Sydney Meader got the scoring going early for the Black Bears as she scored her ninth goal of the season as she put back a saved shot off of the stick of Poppy Lambert (6).
 
Lynn Vanderstichele would get the score knotted back up at 1-1 as she scored her fourth goal of the season on the five-hole shot.
 
The Black Bears would waste little time in the second half getting on the scoreboard as just 17 seconds into the third quarter Chloe Walton would fine the back of the net for her 10th goal of the season. Her score came on a takeaway and pass by Sydney Meader (5).
 
Mallory Mackesy would keep the offense going for the Black Bears as she scored her 11th of the season as she grabbed the rebound off of the Chloe Walton (5) shot to score.
 
Stanford would get one back as Haley Mossmer scored her seventh goal of the season as she shot back the rebounded ball off of the Lynn Vanderstichele shot (2).
 
Maine would have an answer in the fourth quarter as Poppy Lambert netted her 18th goal of the season on a penalty corner. Madisyn Hartley (16) and Tereza Holubcova (12) picked up the assists.
 
Mia Borley was great in net for the Black Bears, racking up eighth saves on 10 shots in the contest.
 
Maine (13-4, 7-0 America East) will stay at home for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 30 against UC Davis. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 P.M.
