- Maine returns home to host Monmouth on Homecoming Weekend for the Black Bears. This meeting marks the first time the two programs have met since 2008, and the first with Monmouth as a CAA member program. Maine has won five-straight games on its Homecoming Weekend.
- The Black Bears enter the contest 3-0 all-time against the Hawks. Maine won the first meeting between the two programs, 21-14, back in 2007 before defeating the Hawks on the road, 21-7, in 2008. The Black Bears captured the most recent meeting, 31-23, at Monmouth in 2010. Maine is 1-0 at home against Monmouth, taking the 2007 victory at Alfond Stadium. In Maine's 2008 meeting with Monmouth, current head coach Jordan Stevens tallied five tackles, including a TFL, for the Black Bears.
- The Black Bears recorded their first victory of the season last Saturday with a 31-24 victory at Hampton. Maine posted season-highs in total yards (449) and rush yards (236) as Freddie Brock, Zavier Scott, and Elijah Barnwell each recorded rushing touchdowns; the first scores on the ground for Maine this season. Brock tacked on a receiving touchdown for his third multi-touchdown performance of his career. Defensively, Maine recorded a season-high three takeaways with three interceptions, including one by Austin Ambush in Maine's own end zone with a minute remaining to seal the deal.
- Since starting the season 0-2, Monmouth has reeled off four straight victories including wins over Villanova and, most recently, a 38-31 victory over UAlbany. The Hawks, who are receiving votes in both of the FCS Top-25 polls, bring the CAA's leading offense to Orono as they are averaging 39.5 points per game and 492.3 total yards per game, ranking seventh and sixth, respectively, in all of FCS in those categories. Monmouth also leads the CAA in rushing at 246.2 yards per game. As much as they score, they also give it up as the Hawks check in eighth in the CAA in scoring defense (28.2 ppg) and 12th in total defense (441.0 ypg). Running back Jaden Shirden paces the offense as the FCS leader in rush yards per game (155.3), rush yards per carry (9.6), and total rushing yards (932).
- Maine, winners of 16 of its last 22 games in October, look for its eighth CAA victory in its last 10 outings. Joe Fagnano is closing in on another milestone as he enters the game just 33 yard shy of moving into 10th on Maine's all-time passing yards list (4,493). Maine's pass defense enters ranked fourth in the CAA (207.4) as the Black Bears have snatched five interceptions this season. The Black Bears are averaging 418.3 yards per game over its last three outings.
