Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine looks for its second consecutive home victory when it hosts UMass Lowell for a midweek showdown at the Cross Insurance Center on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. The Black Bears enter play a perfect 10-0 at home against the River Hawks after sweeping last year's series by scores of 81-49 and 53-51 in Orono.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
Maine returns to action after not playing a game in a week after suffering a COVID-19 setback, forcing it to postpone last Sunday's previously scheduled date at Binghamton.
Anne Simon, who ranks second in the America East at 16.3 points per game, has tallied double-digits in all five of Maine's conference games and each of her last eight contests. Simon, who has registered a steal in each of her last eight games, ranks first in the America East at 2.6 steals per game and has eight more steals on the year than the next closest player.
Alba Orois, coming off a school-record tying 14 assist performance, leads the America East in helpers and ranks 28th nationally at 5.5 per game. In conference play, Orois is averaging an impressive 6.8 dimes per game. Orois, averaging 9.6 points on the year and 10.0 in league play, has turned it over just 10 times in her last seven outings combined.
Maeve Carroll ranks second among America East leaders in rebounding at 8.1 per game and has five double-digit rebounding performances on the year. Carroll is one of four Black Bears (Simon, Orois, Bornemann) who is averaging double-digit point totals in league play.
Caroline Bornemann has cranked up her scoring in league play as she has registered double figures in three of the first five league games. Maine features a league-low 12.6 turnovers per game in conference play while ranking tops among league leaders with a +1.24 assist to turnover ratio against America East opponents.
A LOOK AT UMASS LOWELL:
The River Hawks have played just two league contests this season and are coming off their first conference win after earning a 76-72 win against UMBC on Monday afternoon. UMass Lowell features no players averaging double-digit scoring as the River Hawks are led in the scoring column by Denise Solis' 9.7 points per game. Solis also leads the team in rebounding with 5.8 boards per game. Kharis Idom is adding 9.2 points and a team-best 2.3 assists. The River Hawks are without Jaliena Sanchez who was averaging 14.0 points through three games. UMass Lowell checks in sixth in the league in scoring (57.8) and seventh in scoring defense (63.9).
SERIES WITH UMASS LOWELL:
Maine and UMass Lowell are meeting for the 18th time. Maine, 16-1 all-time against the River Hawks, won the first 12 games of the head-to-head series and are currently on a four game win streak against the River Hawks after taking two a year ago. Since the River Hawks joined the America East in 2013, Maine is 10-0 on its home court in the all-time series. The first-ever meeting between the two teams came on Jan. 23, 2014, a 75-66 victory by the Black Bears in Lowell.
Anne Simon has registered double-digit scoring performances in four of her first five career games against the River Hawks.
