ORONO - Nicholas Sinacola took home his second Pitcher of the Week honor and
Noah Lewis collected his first America East weekly honor as Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
The pair powered Maine to a pair of wins this past weekend against UMBC, combining for 14 innings and just one run allowed.
Sinacola put on one of the best pitching performances in Maine baseball history to earn Co-Pitcher of the Week, sharing the award with Hartford's Nathan Florence who threw seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts. Sinacola put up 16 strikeouts in seven innings, tying a 17-year old conference record and falling just one short of the most ever in Maine's 139-year history. Sinacola's lone blemish came via a solo home run, one of just four hits on the day.
Noah Lewis was just as impressive in the nightcap, going seven innings of his own to earn his second victory of the 2021 season. Lewis allowed just two hits, both singles, and struck out eight batters alongside just two walks.
The duo sits among the league leaders in a bevy of categories, most notable with Sinacola at 1.37 ERA and 1.45 for Lewis ranking as the best in the conference among pitchers with 15+ innings pitched. Both marks are within the top-40 in the nation across Division I.
Nicholas Sinacola now ranks third in the nation with a 17.85 K/9 average.
