Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team returns home to host New Hampshire in the next chapter of Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. New Hampshire currently holds a 6-4 advantage in the Border Battle in 2019-20. Maine and New Hampshire will be meeting for the 94th time with the Black Bears holding a 58-35 advantage in the all-time series. Maine has won seven in a row against New Hampshire.

OVERVIEW:
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
Dor Saar and
Anne Simon, the reigning America East Rookie of the Week, lead Maine's scoring efforts, each averaging double-digits at 10.6 and 10.1 points per game, respectively. Saar, coming off a 13 point effort at Stony Brook, ranks 16th in the league in scoring and third in assists, averaging 4.5 assists per game. Saar, the America East active leader with 326, ranks 10th all-time in helpers at UMaine, just four behind Julie Bradstreet (330) for ninth all-time. Saar has also been a threat from downtown, ranking fourth in the league in 3-point field goals made per game (2.3) and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (31.1). Simon continues to roll offensively as she has registered double-digit scoring efforts in each of her last five outings and seven of her last eight. Over her five-game double-digit scoring stretch, Simon is averaging 16.8 points per game and 5.6 rebounds. In her last eight games, Simon has raised her scoring average from 5.5 to 10.1 points per game.
Maeve Carroll, who nearly tallied a triple double at Stony Brook with 19 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high nine assists, checks in 20th in the America East at 9.1 points per game and seventh at 6.9 rebounds. Carroll, who has amassed double-figure scoring in each of her last three, is averaging 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds over her last three outings.
Kelly Fogarty is shooting 52-percent (13-25) from 3-point range over her last three games and enters play averaging 7.6 points per game. Fogarty ranks third overall in the league from 3-point range (38.3)and fifth in 3-point field goals made per game (2.3).
Maddy McVicar, who has scored double-digits in five of her last six including a career-high 20 against Hartford, is averaging 8.5 points with a perfect 17-of-17 showing from the free throw line this season.
The Black Bears rank first in the America East in 3-point field goals made (123) and attempted (389), checking in 16th and 11th nationally, respectively, in each category. Maine has attempted 20 or more 3-point field goals in 13 games this season, including each of its last five outings. Five times this season Maine has hit 10 or more triples, including each of its last two. Maine's 7.7 makes per game from downtown ranks second in the conference and 56th in the nation.
A LOOK AT NEW HAMPSHIRE:
The Wildcats, who are 1-7 on the road this season, recently snapped a four-game losing skid by earning their first league victory of the season, a 72-71 decision at home over Hartford on Sunday afternoon. Ashley Storey led the way in the win with a team-high 28 points, including the game-winning layup with five seconds remaining.
Storey leads the charge for New Hampshire, ranking third in the America East at 17.1 points per game and 13th in rebounding with 6.2 boards per game, both team-highs. Storey's 44.1-percent clip from the field is fourth best among league leaders. Caroline Soucy is also adding a double-digit scoring average at 10.9 per game. Héléna Delaruelle checks in with 6.2 points per game and ranks second-best among league leaders at 4.6 assists per game.
Overall, New Hampshire enters with the league's worst scoring defense, allowing 68.7 points per game and check in fifth best on offense at 59.9 points per game. The Wildcats also rank last in the league in personal fouls per game at 19.9 and will face a UMaine team which checks in second best in the America East from the free throw stripe (72.3).
SERIES WITH NEW HAMPSHIRE:
Maine and New Hampshire will meet for the 94th time in their storied history. The Black Bears enter play with a 58-35 advantage in the series and have matched up against UNH the second most times of any of its opponents (Vermont-94). Dating back to 1985, Maine is 26-9 at home against the Wildcats. Maine has won seven-straight in the series, including a 69-36 decision in last year's America East quarterfinal meeting at the Cross Insurance Center. Maine has won three-straight home meetings against the Wildcats. The two teams first met in 1920, a 15-13 victory by the Wildcats. Maine has held UNH under 50 points in each of the last six meetings. The Wildcats are averaging just 44.5 points per game against Maine over the last six head-to-head match-ups.
SIMON TWO-TIME ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
On Jan. 6, the America East announced that
Anne Simon had earned her second Rookie of the Week accolade of the season. Simon averaged 17.7 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 57.9-percent from the field while helping guide Maine to a 1-1 showing in the first week of conference play. Simon, who also shot 36.4-percent from 3-point range, began the week by tallying career-highs in both points, 23, and rebounds, eight, in Maine's final non-conference game at Drexel. Simon started conference play with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in Maine's 87-73 America East opening victory over Hartford. Simon followed up the performance with another 15 points showing to go along with a career-matching eight rebounds at Stony Brook.
BALANCED CONFERENCE SCORING
Maine, which has sent out the same starting five for its first two conference games, has seen balanced scoring from its starting five. Maine's five starters are all averaging double-digit scoring efforts through the first two league games.
Maeve Carroll leads the way, nearly averaging a double-double in league play with 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. Fogarty (17.5), McVicar (15.0), Simon (15.0) and Saar (10.0) round out the double-figure scoring.
MIXING IT UP
Through their first 16 games, the Black Bears have used nine different starting combinations. Nine players have received at least one start this season with only
Dor Saar starting all 16 games.
DOR'S DIMES
Despite only being a junior,
Dor Saar is currently the America East active leader in assists (326). Saar, who has amassed five or more assists 30 times and double-figure assist totals three times in her career, recent surpassed Carrie Goodhue to move into 10th on Maine's all-time assists list. Saar currently stands four assists behind Julie Bradstreet (330) for ninth on Maine's all-time list. Saar matched Maine's single-game assists record (14) in her outing with Husson.
ENERGIZER SAAR
At last check (Jan. 6),
Dor Saar ranked first in the nation with 601:25 minutes played this season. Saar leads the America East and checks in 11th nationally at 37.5 minutes per game. In her career, Saar has produced 40 or more minutes in a single game 20 times, including seven times this season and four times in each of her last six outings.
