PhilAnn Dixon broke her own school-record in the 1-meter dive with a final score of 272.17 as the Black Bears finished in a tie, 150-150, at Providence College on Saturday in the regular season finale for the Black Bears.
Dixon also took home first place in the second of two 1-meter competitions on the day, this time winning with a score of 264.00.
The Black Bears swept both relay events while capturing seven individual victories during Saturday's competition.
Valentina Rengifo paced the Black Bears with an impressive day in the pool which saw her reach the podium three times with a pair of victories. Rengifo touched the wall first in both the 200 meter butterfly (2:26.45) and the 200 meter IM (2:25.61) while bringing home a third place finish in the 100 meter butterfly at 1:07.14.
Ines Khiyara won the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:42.18 while finishing third in the 200 meter IM (2:28.31) and the 200 meter freestyle (2:12.34) events.
Morgan Bui scored a victory in the 100 meter breaststroke at 1:16.39 and placed as the runner-up in the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:46.43.
Emma Blair also picked up a win and a second place finish as she captured top honors in the 50 meter freestyle at 27.27 before taking runner-up honors in the 100 meter freestyle (1:00.02).
Caroline Strolic touched the wall second in both the 100 meter breaststroke (1:16.59) and 200 meter IM (2:27.69) while
Kayla Loughman nabbed Maine's sixth victory, placing first in the 100 meter freestyle with a winning mark of 59.60.
Maine was dominant in both freestyle events. The team of Strolic, Bui, Blair and
Rita Chen won the 200 meter medley relay with a final time of 2:01.58. Blair, Chen, Loughman and Khiyara joined forced to take home first place in the 200 meter freestyle relay at 1:49.57.
Maine is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 13 when it begins the four-day America East championship competition at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.
