Box Score ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to the Huskies of UConn on Saturday evening, 5-2.

The first period had both teams getting their offenses going early. The Huskies struck first, as Viki Harkness scored her fifth goal of the season to get the early advantage. Emily Reid (4) and Kaitlyn Yearwood (4) picked up the assists.

Maine would answer back just 18 seconds later as
Celine Tedenby netted her ninth goal of the season to draw the score back to 1-1.
Morgan Trimper's (5) shot set up the rebound score for Tedeneby after
Taylor Leech (9) got the breakaway started on a strong defensive play.

UConn would look to regain the lead as Taylor Wabick scored her fourth goal of the season for the Huskies. Wabick deflected the shot from Claire Peterson (3) to get the goal. Leona Sim (4) picked up the secondary assist.

The second period would have the almost identical feel to the first period, where UConn scored a pair and the Black Bears netted one.

Catherine Crawley got the scoring started in the second as she netted her ninth goal of the season to increase the Huskies lead to 3-1. Briana Colangelo (12) and Taylor Wabick (10) picked up the assists. Crawley would later find the net a second time in the period, scoring her 10
th goal of the season and second of the game. Tristyn Svetek (6) and Colangelo (13) picked up the assists.

Maine would draw a little closer however, as
Ida Kuoppala kept up her red hot scoring streak, netting her 12
th goal of the season, second of the weekend and fourth in her last three contests. Her power play goal would narrow the deficit to 4-2 as the second period concluded. Tedenby (5) and
Ida Press (4) picked up assists on the play.

UConn would strike once more in the third period, as Natalie Snodgrass tucked in a goal with 18 seconds remaining in the period.

Carly Jackson finished with 16 saves in the losing effort, as Morgan Fisher ended with 14 saves in the win for the Huskies.

Maine, who stands at 10-12-5, 6-10-4 in Hockey East, returns to home ice where they will take on the Wildcats of New Hampshire on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1. Both games are scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M.
