Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball, undefeated at home in league play, returns off a three-game road trip to host UMBC on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center. The Black Bears, winners of three in a row at home, have won six-straight home meetings against UMBC and enter action 20-11 all-time against the Retrievers.

OVERVIEW:
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears snapped a rare two-game losing skid with a convincing, 65-47 road victory at Vermont on Wednesday evening.
Maeve Carroll led the way in the victory, tallying her fifth career double-double with career-highs in both points (23) and rebounding (15). Carroll was one of four Black Bears who finished in double-figures with Saar (14), Fogarty (12) and McVicar (10) also joining the scoring totals. The Black Bears held Vermont to just 5-of-25 shooting combined in the second and third quarter to help seal the victory.
Anne Simon, who missed the Vermont game due to illness, continues to guide Maine in scoring as she ranks 14th among America East leaders in scoring at 11.3 points per game. Simon has elevated her play in conference action, averaging 15.8 points and 6.2 rebounds against league competition. Simon has posted double-digit scoring totals in eight of her last nine outings, including a career-best 28 point showing at Binghamton.
Maeve Carroll has started conference play at a high-level. The junior has tallied four of her five double-doubles against league competition and enters action averaging 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds to go along with a 53.2-percent mark from the floor in league play. Overall, Carroll is averaging 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds, fourth best in league play, on the season.
Dor Saar, who ranks third in the America East with 2.43 triples per game, is adding 11.0 points and continues to lead the nation in minutes played at 801:10, ranking 10th in the nation at 38:15 minutes per game. Saar has logged 40+ minutes in 11 games this season including in each of her last six outings. Saar currently checks in third in America East in assists at 4.2 per game and stands as the league's active assists leader with 343, 10th best all-time at Maine.
Maddy McVicar is adding 8.8 points, 11.1 in league play, while shooting 37.3-percent from long distance.
Kelly Fogarty ranks second among America East leaders from downtown at 38.2-percent while ranking fifth best at 2.24 makes from 3-point range per game. Fogarty has tallied two or more triples in seven of her last eight games.
Maine continues to lead the conference in scoring in league play, averaging 66.9 points per game against America East competition. The Black Bears also pace the league in field goal percentage (43.1) and 3-point percentage (36.6) through its first seven league contests. Overall, Maine ranks among the nation's team leaders in 3-point offense, checking in eighth in 3-point attempts (493), 15th in 3-point makes (157) and 62nd in 3-point field goals made per game (7.5).
A LOOK AT UMBC:
The Retrievers began league play 0-5 before picking up their first America East victory after defeating winless Hartford, 61-54, on Wednesday evening. The bright spot for UMBC is senior Te'yJah Oliver who ranks second in the league in scoring at 20.4 points per game. Oliver leads the league in 3-point shooting at 40.8-percent while checking in second among league leaders at 2.5 triples made per contest. Junior forward Janee'a Summers ranks in the top-10 among America East leaders in scoring, 9th-12.5, and rebounding, 3rd-7.6, to go along with an 80.0-percent clip from the free throw line.
As a team, UMBC ranks fourth in the league in scoring (59.2) and sixth in scoring defense (64.6). The majority of UMBC's offense comes from inside the paint as they rank among the lowest in the nation from 3-point range and last in the conference 3-point field goals made (60), averaging just 3.5 per game. UMBC has also struggled to control the ball, ranking seventh highest among America East leaders at 18.3 turnovers per game.
SERIES WITH UMBC:
Maine has won five-straight against the Retrievers and lead the all-time series, 21-12. Maine is 12-4 at home against UMBC and have won six-straight on its home court against the Retrievers. The two teams first met on Jan. 24, 2004 with Maine coming away with a 60-45 victory in Baltimore. The Black Bears would go on to win each of the first five meetings in the all-time series.
