Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team closes its three-game road trip when it travels to meet Vermont on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in Burlington. The Black Bears have gone head-to-head with Vermont more than any of their other opponents, squaring off with the Catamounts for a 95th time. Maine has won five-straight meetings with Vermont including each of the last two contests played in Vermont.

OVERVIEW:
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
Maine recently suffered its second-straight conference loss when it was defeated at Binghamton. The loss marked Maine's time in which it dropped back-to-back conference contests since Feb. 15, 18, 2017. The Black Bears went 33 consecutive regular season league games without suffering a back-to-back loss from 2017 until present day.
Individually, Maine features three active players who enter Wednesday's contest averaging double-figure scoring totals. Coming off her third America East Rookie of the Week accolade of the season,
Anne Simon leads the Black Bears at 11.3 points per game. Simon, who registered her first career double-double on a career-best 28 points and career-high 11 rebounds at Binghamton, has tallied double-figure scoring efforts in eight of her last 10 contests and enters play averaging 15.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in league play. Defensively, Simon ranks seventh among America East leaders at 1.6 steals per game.
Maeve Carroll has recorded double-digits in six of her last seven outings, averaging 10.0 points while ranking fourth in the league with a team-high 7.2 rebounds. Carroll, who has registered five double-digit rebounding performances this season, leads Maine with a 50.3-percent clip from the floor.
Dor Saar orchestrates Maine's offense, checking in third in the league at 4.3 assists per game. Saar ranks second on the Black Bears' squad in scoring (10.8) and leads the nation in minutes played (762) while leading the America East at 38.1 minutes per game. Saar has recorded 40 or more minutes in a game 10 times this season, including in each of her last five games.
Maddy McVicar is averaging 8.7 points per game and ranks ninth in the league at 1.6 triples per game.
Kelly Fogarty has been Maine's most consistent threat from downtown. Fogarty, averaging 7.3 points per game, ranks second in the America East in 3-point shooting (37.7) and fifth in 3-point field goals made per game (2.2).
Maine 3-point offense checks in among the nation's leader. Maine ranks 11th nationally in 3-point field goals attempted (475), 17th best in 3-point field goals made (149) and 64th in 3-point field goals made per game (7.5) - all America East highs. Maine has also been impressive from the free throw line, ranking 49th in the nation and second-best in the America East with a 74.3-percent clip at the charity stripe.
A LOOK AT VERMONT:
The Catamounts, who are 7-2 on their home court this season, enter Wednesday's action riding a three-game win streak after scoring victories over UMBC, Binghamton and Hartford. Hanna Crymble, who recently captured her second-straight America East Player of the Week award after dropping 32 points against Binghamton, leads the Catamounts in scoring. Cymble checks in third-best in the America East at 17.7 points per game while ranking second among league leaders in rebounding with 8.3 per contest. Defensively, Cymble is the America East's leader in block shots, averaging 2.1 rejections per game. Josie Larkins also ranks among the top-10 in league scoring leaders, checking in eighth at 12.6 points per game. Larkins ranks second in the league at 2.5 triples per game, shooting 36.3-percent from downtown while ranking seventh at 2.9 assists per game. Freshman Emma Utterback rounds out Vermont's double-digit scorers, ranking 11th in the league at 11.9 points per game. Utterback is eighth in the league at 2.9 assists per game.
Vermont features the league's third leading offense, averaging 64.2 points per game, with a league-leading 41.2-percent clip from the floor. The Catamounts limit their turnovers, ranking 14th in the nation with a league-leader 12.2 giveaways per game. Vermont leads the America East with a +1.05 assist to turnover ratio.

SERIES WITH VERMONT:
Maine has competed against Vermont more than any of its other opponents as this will mark the 95th all-time meeting between the two teams. The Black Bears currently hold a 60-34 advantage in the all-time series, having won 12 of the last 13 meetings and five in a row. Since 1985, Maine is 17-14 all-time on the road against the Catamounts, having won in two-straight trips to Burlington. Maine swept both meetings a year ago, earning a 63-51 victory at Vermont before scoring a most recent, 66-45 win at home in the head-to-head series.
