Black Bears Hit The Road for Midday Meeting at Dartmouth

Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team plays its second consecutive game against an Ivy League opponent when it hits the road for a noon tip-off at Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon live on NESN. The contest marks Maine's 18th all-time meeting with Dartmouth and its first since 2017.

Tuesday's contest will be televised live on NESN, streamed on ESPN+ and also broadcast via radio locally via 96.1 WGUY-FM and worldwide at GoBlackBears.com.

OVERVIEW:
A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears, 1-2 on the road, will look to snap their two-game road losing skid after starting the year with a victory at Delaware. Maine is also searching for its first win over an Ivy League opponent after dropping meetings to Brown and Harvard this season.

Dor Saar leads the way for Maine, checking in 20th best in the America East at 9.0 points per game. Saar, the America East active assists leader, ranks fifth in the conference at 4.3 assists and 38th nationally with 42 total assists on the year. Saar ranks second in the nation in total minutes (371:43) and 19th nationally, logging 37.17 minutes per game. Maeve Carroll is adding 7.3 points and checks in 10th in the league, and tops on the Black Bears roster, with 6.3 rebounds per game. Kelly Fogarty leads Maine from outside, shooting 38.2-percent from 3-point range (21-55), ranking fourth in the America East in 3-point percentage and fifth with 2.1 triples per game. Maddy McVicar, who has scored in double-figures in three of her last four games and each of her last two, is adding 6.8 points per game while Anne Simon, also with double-digits in two consecutive games, also checks in at 6.8 points per game.

The Black Bears rank second in the conference at 7.2 three-point field goals per game. Maine ranks ninth in the nation with 250 attempts from outside, 37th nationally with 72 makes from distance. Maine checks in 33rd in the nation and third in the conference with 13.4 turnovers per game. The Black Bears are fourth-best in the conference, giving up 63.8 points per game.

A LOOK AT DARTMOUTH:
The Big Green have dropped each of the last three outings, including a 79-37 decision at Northwestern on Saturday. Dartmouth enters play 2-0 at home and is returning to its home arena after playing four-straight on the road. Annie McKenna (12.3) and Anna Luce (11.0) lead the way for Dartmouth, each averaging double-digits on the season. McKenna also leads the team in assists at 4.5 per game, third best in the Ivy League, to go along with 4.5 rebounds. Luce owns the team's top shooting mark (45.8) and is adding 5.0 rebounds per game. Paula Lenart ranks fifth in the Ivy League with a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per game to go along with 7.0 points.

Dartmouth has struggled to score as a team, checking in eighth in the Ivy League with 52.7 points per game. Defensively, the Big Green rank fifth in the Ivy League, surrendering 61.3 points per game.

SERIES WITH DARTMOUTH:
UMaine and Dartmouth will meet for the 18th time with the Black Bears holding a 13-4 advantage in the all-time series. Maine, which has won each of the last six meetings, defeated Dartmouth 64-51 in the latest meeting, held in Hanover on Dec. 9, 2017. In that meeting, Fanny Wadling led four Black Bears in double-figures with a game-high 18 points. In two meetings with Dartmouth, Wadling is averaging 13.0 points per game against the Big Green. Maine has won in its last three trips to Dartmouth.

The Black Bears are 38-20 all-time against Ivy League opponents.
