About the Black Bears
• The University of Maine men's ice hockey team swept last weekend's two game series with the University of Alaska Anchorage. Friday night was a 7-1 victory, while the Black Bears won Saturday night with an overtime goal from Eduards Tralmaks.
• It was the first time Maine had tallied seven goals since the 7-2 victory at Boston College on January 16, 2019. Five different Black Bears found the back of the net in the 2019-20 home opener.
• Three of Maine's first five games will be against ranked opponents. #4/#6 Providence and Maine opened the season in Providence. The 2018-19 Black Bears played 14 ranked teams, including two wins over top 10 teams.
• Last weekend, JD Greenway, Samuel Rennaker, and Simon Butala all scored their first career goal as a Maine Black Bear. Emil Westerlund also tallied his first colliegate three point game.
• Jeremy Swayman saved 52 shots in the season opener. The junior finished the home opener weekend with 57 total saves on 59 shots faced.
• The University of Maine men's ice hockey team enters the season with 10 new faces on the roster after seeing nine players graduate or leave to pursue professional hockey. Nine incoming freshmen and one transfer junior make up players who were added by the coaching staff. Five of the incoming student athletes are from the United States, while the other five are from Canada.
• Last year's junior class finished with 105 points, good for third overall in Hockey East behind Providence's and Northeastern's juniors, with Mitch Fossier and Chase Pearson finishing second and eighth.
• The nine-member Class of 2023 includes AJ Drobot, Ben Poisson, Brady Gaudette, Levi Kleiboer, Dawson Bruneski, Remy Parker, Perry Winfree, Adrien Bisson, and Matthew Thiessen.
• The UMaine roster includes four NHL draft picks, with Patrick Shea being selected by the Florida Panthers in 2015, JD Greenway being selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2016, Jeremy Swayman being taken in the 2017 draft by the Boston Bruins, and Matthew Thiessen being taken by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2018 NHL draft.
About the Bobcats

• Maine and Quinnipiac first met on Dec. 12, 1999, with the Black Bears skating to a 7-4 win at Alfond Arena.
• The Black Bears battled the Bobcats in two contests last year, with Quinnipiac winning both of the battles.
