Borley Named America East Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – After making eight saves against No. 22 UAlbany on Sunday, freshman goalkeeper Mia Borley was tabbed the America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The eight saves recorded by Borley on her birthday against the Great Danes is a new career-high through 11 games played. The game marked Maine's third win over a ranked opponent,  along with the Black Bears' first victory in America East play.  Borley also tallied two saves against New Hampshire on Friday.

The award marks Borley's second America East weekly award this season, as she previously won the conference's rookie of the week on Sept. 5. The Durham, England native was also honored as the Longstreth/NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week that same day.

So far this season, Borley ranks sixth in the nation in win/loss percentage (.818) and 16th in the country in goals against average (1.35).

Earlier today, the NFHCA announced that Maine moved up to No. 17 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.

Maine is off from game action until Sunday, Oct. 7, when the Black Bears venture to Vermont. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m at Moulton-Winder Field. The Black Bears return home on Tues. Oct. 9 for one last non-conference bout against Dartmouth at 1:00 p.m.
