ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine field hockey team recorded the highest grade point average (GPA) in all of Division I field hockey, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday morning.
The Black Bears turned in a 3.89 GPA to lead all of the Division I field hockey members and earned the squad a 2025 National Academic Team Award. The 3.89 GPA was also the highest recorded in
Maine field hockey history.
Previously, the Black Bears received individual academic honors from the NFHCAÂ with 17 selected to the
2025 NFHCAÂ Division I National Academic Squad and 12 individuals honored as
Division I Scholars of Distinction.
