ORONO, Maine – After a very successful week at home, the Black Bears improved their overall record to 8-5-1 (3-2-1 WHEA) with wins over Northeastern and UConn and an overtime tie against Providence. Maine currently holds a four-game unbeaten streak.
After defeating Northeastern 4-2 in the beginning of the week, Maine will be trekking down to Boston to face the Huskies on their home ice just a little over a week later.

After falling to Maine on Tuesday last week, the Huskies returned home to Massachusetts for a two-game weekend series against Merrimack College. Junior Taytum Clairmont put away a pair of goals against Merrimack as she helped the Huskies win 2-0 in the first match and take the Warriors to a 1-1 overtime tie on Saturday. Freshman Brooke Hobson handed out two assists on the week.
Opening up the week, junior Brittany Bugalski stopped 20 shots in the matchup at Maine. Freshman Aerin Frankel finished out the week in net to earn her first NCAA win in her first collegiate start for a 19-save shutout against Merrimack. With this feat, as well as her first collegiate tie registering 32 saves, the rookie earned Women's Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.

Freshman Michelle Weis paved the way for the Black Bears' impressive week, potting four goals as she helped edge out UConn, 4-3, with the game winner 35 seconds into overtime. She netted a pair of goals to help Maine take Providence into overtime for a 2-2 tie. Against Northeastern, the rookie put away Maine's first shorthanded goal of the season to help her earn the Women's Hockey East Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Week.
Sophomore Tereza Vanisova racked up six points in three games split between one goal and five assists. Also making immense contributions were senior
Catherine Tufts netting three goals plus an assist, sophomore Vendular Pribylova notching one goal and two assists, and senior
Brooke Stacey dishing out an assist each game.
In net, sophomore
Carly Jackson kept the Black Bears afloat, seeing two games into overtime and tallying a total of 78 saves between all three games, improving her record to 6-4-1. She achieved a season high 36 saves in tie against Providence.
