ORONO, Maine -- After a very successful past weekend, the Black Bears improved their overall record to 3-1 as they swept Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in their first series on the road. The Maine women's ice hockey team looks to continue their win streak as they host No. 10 Robert Morris University for a two-game series this weekend on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.

RMU has started off their season on a high note with a 2-0-0 overall record leading into the weekend series with Maine. Currently tied for the lead in points are Senior Brittany Howard and Sophomore Jaycee Gebhard, each registering six points in just the first two games. Both Howard and junior Amber Rennie netted three goals apiece to take down Minnesota State, 6-2, last weekend. Gebhard nabbed all six of her assists this season in the Colonials second win. RMU grabbed the 2-1 win over Minnesota State in their first matchup of the season, after taking them into overtime.
Three of the Colonials saw playing time in net this past weekend with senior Elijah Milne-Price kicking off the 2017-18 for her second collegiate start. She held Minnesota State to one goal into overtime to help RMU pick up the 2-1 win. Junior Lauren Bailey started in between the posts the next game until freshman Molly Singewald stepped onto the ice for the first time in her collegiate career for the remaining 7:19. Both goalies gave up one goal. Throughout her career at RMU, Bailey has accumulated a total of 482 saves with a .916 save percentage.

The Black Bears enter into this matchup having already defeated a top ten nationally ranked team this season when they took down No. 9 Quinnipiac, 4-2, in their second game of the year. Sophomore Tereza Vanisova has been leading the attack this season, in addition to leading the team in points, after dishing out five assists in just four games along with one goal of her own. Fellow classmate Lydia Murray is currently the only Black Bear that has recorded two goals so far this year.
Last week against RPI, three players contributed immensely putting away both a goal and at least one assist. Junior Cailey Hutchison was unstoppable on the attack notching two assists along with her goal, while sophomores Jessica Jacques and Ebba Strandberg tallied one of each. Vanisova added on three assists between both games and sophomore Brittany Kucera helped out with two. Jacques and senior Brooke Stacey recorded their first points of the season in the first matchup with RPI.
Sophomore Carly Jackson accumulated a total of 41 saves last weekend to improve her goals against average to 1.76 so far this season. Her career save percentage now stands at .930.
