WEEKEND PREVIEW: Women's Hockey to take on #2 Northeastern

ORONO, Maine- The Black Bears Women's Ice Hockey team will be back in action at Alfond Arena, this weekend, for the first time since winter break. On Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14, they will host conference opponent the Northeastern University Huskies, who currently hold the second place standing, in Hockey East.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES:

Northeastern comes into the matchup with a overall record of 13-7-3 and a conference record of 9-5-2. They are led by Junior Forward McKenna Brand (19-10-29). Brand is coming off a 3-point outing against the University of New Hampshire. She is closely followed by Junior Forward  Denisa Krizova (12-16-28), who also had a three point performance last weekend against New Hampshire. Senior Forward Hayley Scamurra (5-14-19), has proven to be a reliable play maker, as she is second on the team in assists.

In net, the Huskies look to Sophomore Brittany Bugalski (13-6-3) for a majority of the workload. Bugalski brings a save percentage of .926 and a GAA of 2.02.

The Black Bears come into the matchup with a overall record of 6-14-1 and a conference record of 2-10-1. The team is coming off two weekend losses to third place, conference opponent, the Vermont Catamounts. Freshman Tereza Vanisova (13-10-23) continues to be a reliable source of offense for the Black Bears as she netted her 13th goal last weekend. Junior Brook Stacey (7-7-14) and Freshman Vendula Pribylova (4-10-14) have also been offensive staples.

In net, the Black Bears have relied on the work of Freshman Carly Jackson (4-11-1). Jackson has a save percentage of .914 and a GAA of 2.71.
