Box Score First night of the Border Battle saw the Black Bears travel to Durham, New Hampshire to take on the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.
 
The 1^st period for Maine started with a back and forth affair that saw Mitch Fossier net his 7^th goal of the year at the 13:08 mark. Marcus Vela took a roughing penalty that saw the Black Bears make quick work of the man advantage as Eric Schurhamer and Pat Holway found Fossier, who funneled a puck to the front of the net, and off a Wildcat skate to give the Black Bears a 1-0 lead. Rob McGovern made 8 stops in the frame to help preserve the lead.
 
The 2^nd period saw the Black Bears find some penalty trouble that proved costly. At the 6:23 mark of the period, the Wildcats connected on their first powerplay goal. UNH senior Tyler Kelleher took a feed from Matias Cleland where he rifled a puck off a stick in front and passed McGovern, knotting the score at 1 apiece. At the 14:54 mark, Kelleher struck again on the powerplay, beating a Maine defenseman wide to the outside and then driving the far post, eluding a McGovern poke check and sliding the puck in, making the score 2-1 UNH Goaltender Daniel Tirone was perfect in the frame stopping all 8 Maine shots.
 
The 3^rd period was all UNH as the Wildcats scored 3 unanswered goals en route to their 5-1 win. Brendan van Riemsdyk scored early in the frame to make it 3-1. Jason Salvaggio then was able to slam home a puck at the 14:18 mark to give UNH a 4-1 lead, and in turn chasing Rob McGovern from the net. Matt Morris came on in relief, making 2 saves on 3 shots, as a Cameron Marks seeing eye shot found its way over the shoulder of Morris. Daniel Tirone made 23 saves on 24 shots to cap off the UNH victory.
