Women's Hockey Set for 1-Game Road Trip to Northeastern

The Black Bears are looking for their second conference win early in the season.

ORONO, Maine - The Black Bears prepare to travel down to Boston, Massachusetts as they will face conference foe Northeastern who currently own a 2-1-0 conference record, 6-3-1 overall. Maine will have a short weekend this weekend playing only one game, Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears come in with a 1-5-0 conference record looking to bounce back after a 2-game skid which saw 3-2 losses to Providence and Vermont last weekend.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

Northeastern comes into this game after dropping a game to Merrimack, who defeated Maine earlier this season, 3-2 at Matthews Arena. It was Northeastern's first conference loss of the second and only 3rd of the year. The Huskies are led by Junior Forward Denisa Krížová who has 14 points on 6 goals and 8 assists, and most recently awarded Hockey East Player of the Month honors for her performance in the end of September and October. Fellow Junior Forward McKenna Brand follows close behind, also with 6 goals, and 4 assists for 10 points total. Senior Forwards Hayley Scamurra and Paige Savage have each chipped in 9 points to the teams effort so far this season, with 3 goals-6 assists, and 2 goals-7 assists respectively. Northeastern's high-power offense has been spread out throughout the team, as they only have 4 skaters on the roster without a point.

In goal Northeastern has relied on September/October Hockey East Goaltender of the Month Brittany Bugalski, who has a 6-2-1 record thus far, and has stopped 232 shots for a .935 save percentage and allows only 1.78 goals per game. She has 3 shutouts on the season.

MAINE LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK

After upsetting Boston College last month, the Black Bears have since lost 2 games in a row by a 1-goal margin, 3-2 to Providence and Vermont; they look to bounce back and try to capture their second conference win on the season. The Black Bears are led by Freshman Forward Tereza Vanišová, who has 4 goals and assists to lead the team with 8 points. Senior Forward Morgan Sakundiak also has 4 goals and an assist on the season for 5 points. Freshman Forward Vendula Pribylová has also chipped in with 5 points on a game-winning goal against BC, and 4 assists. 

The Black Bears have looked to Freshman Carly Jackson in net this season as she's started 7 of Maine's 10 games so far. She has stopped 247 shots for a .907 save percentage and allows 2.84 goals per game. She has a 1-7-0 record on the season.
