Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Sigi Koizar and Laia Sole combined for 25 points to lead the University of Maine women's basketball (3-4) team to a 49-39 victory over UT-Chattanooga (3-5) in its Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame finale on Sunday evening.

Maine held UT-Chattanooga to a slim 16-for-50 mark from the field (32%) while holding a 16-11 turnover margin and outscoring the Mocs 16-4 off turnovers.

The Mocs, which made the NCAA tournament last season after finishing 24-8, were held to a season-low 39 points by the Black Bears.

Maine featured three scorers in double-figures, led by Koizar's team-high 13 points. Sole added 12 points and fellow freshman MIllan netted 10.

With the Black Bears clinging to a 31-29 lead with 4:42 left in the third, Koizar and Fanny Wadling each notched a layup and free throw to lead a 10-2 Black Bear run that proved to be the difference.

UT-Chattanooga came out hot, taking an 11-4 lead in the first quarter of action and a 22-13 advantage late in the second quarter.

Maine's offense began to spark. A jumper from Koizar began an 8-0 run to close the second half, drawing the Black Bears within a point at the break, 22-21.

Caceres 3-pointer to begin the second half lifted Maine to a 24-22 lead. Maine went on to score the first eight points of the second half, elevating its lead to 29-22 just 1:49 into the third quarter.

The Mocs were able to cut the lead all the way back down to a single point with 3:52 left in the third quarter. Maine responded, putting together a 9-0 run to lift its lead up to double-digits at 41-31 with 8:17 left in the game.

The Mocs cut the lead back down to six but it was as close as they would get. Millan capped an 8-0 run with a layup, elevating the Maine lead to 14 at 49-35, with 2:50 to play.

The Black Bears would hold on to the win, 49-39.

Maine returns to action Friday, Dec. 2 at Clemson with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m. The Black Bears are back at Cross Insurance Center on Dec. 7 when it hosts Northeastern. For tickets, please visit TicketMaster.com or visit the Cross Insurance Center box office.
