LOWELL, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team (4-6-2, 1-3-0 HEA) was unable to complete the weekend sweep of No. 5 UMass Lowell (7-3-2, 3-1-0 HEA), dropping Sunday's contest by a score of 4-1 on the road at Tsongas Arena.
Dane Gibson tallied his third goal of the season, and his third in his last four games, for Maine's lone score of the night. Gibson has notched five points in his last four games.
Rob McGovern turned away 25 shots in net for the Black Bears who were outshot 29 to 21 and finished the game 0-for-9 on the power play. The River Hawks capitailzed on a pair of their seven chances with the man advantage.
The River Hawks jumped out early with a pair of goals in the opening period. Ryan Lohin gave UMass Lowell a 1-0 lead off assists from Dylan Zink and Tyler Mueller, 5:34 into the first. John Edwardh found the back of the net just under eight minutes later, giving the River Hawks a two-goal advantage.
Working on the power play, 12:59 into the second period, UMass Lowell stretched its lead to 3-0 on Joe Gambardella's team-leading seventh goal of the season.
The Black Bears were able to get one back with 4:36 left in the second period.

Cam Brown hooked up to find Gibson who buried the puck for his third goal of the season.
UMass Lowell regained a three goal lead on Jake Kamrass' sixth goal of the year.
The River Hawks would hold on, taking the league showdown, 4-1.
Maine continues Hockey East action with a two-game weekend set at Vermont beginning on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7:05 p.m.
