BRUNSWICK, Maine - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team and New Hampshire battled to a 2-2 tie in a Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle preaseason tilt on Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,000 at Sidney J. Watson Arena.
The Wildcats scored just over six minutes into the first period, converting on a power-play after Maine was called for too many men on the ice. The Wildcats made it 2-0 in the second period before
Simon Motew responded less than 20 seconds later, ringing a shot in off of the post.

Midway through the third period,
Max Scott scored on the power play, finishing off feeds from
Josh Nadeau and
Brandon Holt.

Mathis Rousseau made 19 saves – including 13 in the third period – in 32:07 of play while
Albin Boija had 17 saves – including 12 in the first period – in 32:53.

Maine went 1-for-5 on the power play while UNH was 2-for-5. The Wildcats had a 38-18 lead in shots on goal.
The Black Bears will open up the season in earnest next weekend, hosting Holy Cross on Oct. 10 and 11 at Alfond Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on both nights.
