SMITHFIELD, Rhode Island - After splitting the meet with URI on Friday, the men's and women's teams traveled to Bryant University to finish out thier weekend road trip, where both teams fell to Bryant 162-99 (Men) and 143-119 (Women).
Despite the large margin of loss, the men's team had some stand out performances;
In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Eric Delmonte took first with a time of 1:00.34. He also took first in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:29.37.
The 200 Yard Butterfly was won by Calvin Cleworth, who finished with 2:03.15.
In the 50 Free,
Nicholas Sundquist took first with a final time of 22.21. He also won the 100 Yard Fly with a time of 52.41.
Maine would finish the day by taking first in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with a final time of 3:16.76; the team consisted of Alec Penn,
Nicholas Sundquist,
Coulter Morrill, and
Shane Kinnon.
The women gave just as impressive performance, if not more, keeping their meet within 30 points with Bryant.
They started off the meet by taking first in the 200 Medley Relay; the team consisted of
Megan McGillivray, Sabrina Nuttall,
Emma Pontius, and Juliana McDoanld. Their final time was 1:50.29.Â
In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Sabrina Nuttall took first with a time of 1:06.61.Â
The 200 Yard Breasttroke also saw a Maine swimmer in first,
Emma Blackdeer, with a time of 2:29.37.
In the 200 Fly, first place was taken by
Victoria Kingston, with a time of 2:13.26.
The 100 Fly was also taken by Maine,
Emma Pontius was first with 59.60.
The two teams will take a week off and return home to face Vermont at home on Saturday, November 5th.
