KINGSTON, Rhode Island - In the first meet of the season, Maine's Men's and Women's Swim teams were in action at Rhode Island on Friday evening which saw the Men's team take a convincing win 184-68 and the Women's team came up just short with a score of 171.5-124.5.
For the women, Maine saw many first place finishes which were able to keep the contest within grasp;
The 200 Yard Medley Relay saw a team of
Megan McGillivray, Sabrina Nuttall, Emma Pontious, and
Juliana McDonald placing first with a time of 1:48.43.
In the 200 Yard Freestyle,
Chloe Adams took first in the event with a time of 1:57.70.
In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Julianna McDonald took first with 24.97. She also took the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.43.Â
The 200 Yard IM finished with
Shayla Rose Kleisinger finishing first with 2:14.60.
In the 100 Yard Butterfly
Victoria Kingston took first with 59.68.
And in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay saw Maine taking first with a time of 1:40.41, the team consisted of
Emily Borger,
Juliana McDonald, Lindsley Tessa, and Chole Adams.
For the men, they placed first in every event but their last two, the 200 Yard IM and 200 Yard Free Relay.;
Their meet started off with the 200 Yard Medley Relay, which Maine took with a final time of 1:42.83. The team consisted of Calvin Cleworth,
Timothy Edison,
Nicholas Sundquist, and Ryan Boll.
In the 200 Freestyle
Alexander Penn took first with a time of 1:53.31.
The 50 Yard Backstroke went to
Nicholas Sundquist, with a time of 25.37. He also finished first in the 50 Yard Butterfly with 23.85.
In the 50 Yard Breaststroke, Ryan Boll took first with a time of 28.40. He also placed first in the 100 Yard Freestyle with 50.48.
The 100 Yard Butterfly saw
Spencer Lindsley taking first with 58.78.
In the 50 Free, Calvin Cleworth took first with 23.12. He also placed first in the 100 Backstroke with 58.57.
The 100 Yard Breaststroke finished with Coulter Mrorrill finishing first with a time of 1:03.06.
The 500 Free saw Sean Drsicoll finishing first with 5:14.40.
Kyle Adams participated in two diving events with scores of 208.35 (1 mtr diving) and 200.25 (3 mtr diving).
Both teams travel to Bryant on Saturday evening to continue their weekend of meets.
