The University of Maine Black Bears Women's Ice Hockey team faces two conference opponents this homecoming weekend, as they face Merrimack on Friday at 2pm, and Boston College at 7pm Satuday in Auburn, Maine.

BLACK BEARS LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK: Maine is coming off two losses against Boston College 1-2 and 1-5. The Black Bears have scored 9 goals this season seeing goals from Tereza Vanisova, Morgan Sakundiak, Emilie Brigham, Kristin Gilmour, Catherine Tufts and Kara Washer. They have also seen assists by Vendula Pribylova, Brooke Stacey, Alyson Matteau and Cassidy Herman. Maine has two goaltenders, Carly Jackson and Mariah Fujimagari who have both seen time in net this season. Jackson has saved 140 out of 155 shots this season. Fujimagari has 22 saves of the 25 shots taken on her this season.
FRESHMAN PRODUCTION OFF TO A STRONG START:  Forward Tereza Vanisova is at Maine from Strakonice, Czech Republic as a first year. Vanisova has started her season off very strong with 4 points. Vanisova is leading the team in goals with 3 of the teams 9. Vanisova is also leading the team in shots on goal with 18. Alongside her is Vendula Pribylova from Olomouc, Czech Republic, who leads the team in assists with 4; Other point-scoring freshmen so far this season include Kara Washer from New Lowell, Ontario, who notched a goal in the opening weekend and Ebba Strandberg from Kalmar, Sweden, who saw an assist against BC last weekend.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS: The Warriors started their season with a record of 1-3 and 9 goals on the season. Their leading goal scorer, Katelyn Rae has scored 6 goals this season for the Warriors. They have also seen goals from Annie Boeckers, Jessica Bonfe and Jackie Pieper. The Warriors have also seen contribution from Mikyla Grant-Mentis, Dominique Kremer and Allison Sexton along with many other Warriors through assists. Warriors goalie Lea-Kristine Demers has played in all 4 games and has saved 126 out of 141 shots on net this season.Â
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:Â Boston College comes in ranked #5 in the nation after their regular perfect season last year that lead to their eventual #1 seed in the Hockey East playoffs. The Black Bears fell to the Eagles in their previous 2 contests with Freshman Forward Delaney Belinskas scoring 4 goals against the Black Bears in game 2 of the series; she leads the team in goals with 5. Fellow Freshman Caitrin Lonergan also has 5 points, on 3 goals and two assists. Other key performers for the Eagles are Juniors Megan Keller with 4 assits, and Kali Flanagan with 3 assists. In net the Eagles have been relying on Katie Burt who has started all 4 of BCs games so far with a 2-1-1 record, allowing 2.67 goals per game on a .889 save percentage. BC will travel to UNH prior to traveling to Auburn, ME for their contest against the Black Bears.
