Smith named mid-season nominee for Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award

Final five candidates for the award will be released to the public on a day by day basis starting the week of March 16

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine redshirt senior Adrianna Smith has been named one of 10 mid-season nominees for the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award, as announced by the the Basketball Hall of Fame's Naismith Starting 5 committee, in collaboration with the WBCA.

Black Bear fans are encouraged to vote for Smith in the remaining rounds by participating in fan voting starting on Friday, Feb. 6 at HoopHallAwards.com. The fan vote will count as one vote during the final selection process.

The final five candidates for the award will be released to the public on a day-by-day basic starting the week of March 16, with voting on the finalists set to follow on March 20. The winner of the award, as well as presentation details, will be announced towards the end of the season.

Smith, a four-time America East Player of the Week honoree this season, currently leads the America East in scoring (21.5 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg) and assists (4.8). Smith has registered a league-leading 10 double-doubles this season to go along with a triple double and has posted double-digit scoring efforts in 21 games, has bested 30 points three times, 25 points nine times, and surpassed 20 points in a single game on 13 different occasions.
