Preview: Maine hosts Bryant, heads to Binghamton

Maine women’s soccer will host Bryant on Thursday night in the first-ever collegiate contest at the New Balance Soccer Complex

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will host Bryant on Thursday night in the first-ever collegiate contest at the New Balance Soccer Complex before heading to New York on Sunday to face the Binghamton Bearcats.
 
Thursday's game marks the women's soccer 'Stein Game' as well as the dormitory Rumble Cup, with free pizza also available for students while supplies last. Additionally, members of the Dirigo Union Supporters Club will be in attendance. Kickoff on Thursday is set for 6 p.m. and Sunday's is scheduled for noon.

Both America East contests will stream live on ESPN+.

ABOUT MAINE
• Maine stands at 1-0-0 in America East play and 2-4-1 overall.
• The Black Bears opened up conference play on Sept. 21, earning a 1-0 road win at UAlbany … Julie Lossius scored her second game-winning goal of the season while Elena Barenberg made two saves for her first career win and shutout.
• Emma Nicholson leads Maine in points with five from two goals and one assist … Victoria Dungey has a team-leading two assists … Lossius and Abbey Thornton each have four points on two goals each.
• The Black Bears are out-shooting opponents 98-72 on the year and have a 49-37 margin in shots on goal.
• Nicholson ranks third among America East players with her 20 shots and is tied seventh with 11 shots on goal.

ABOUT BRYANT
• Bryant enters Thursday night at 0-1-1 in America East play and 3-3-4 overall … the Bulldogs fell in a battle with Binghamton, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at home, with the Bearcats converting two second-half penalty kicks.
• The Bulldogs played Vermont to a scoreless draw in the America East opener back on Sept. 21.
• Caitlin Forshay leads Bryant with three goals for six points while Emily Supple has five points from two goals and one assist … Madison Luke has a team-high 13 shots on goal while recording one goal and one assist.
• Shannon Mejia and Selena Negron have both played eight games and each started five games … Meja is 2-3-2 with a 1.20 goals against average and .793 save percentage while Negron is 1-0-2 with a 0.40 goals against average and .920 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY vs BRYANT
• Maine holds a record of 10-3-1 in the all-time series with Bryant.
• Last season, the Black Bears picked up a 3-1 road to extend the winning streak in the series to seven games … Jordane Pinette scored the game-winning goal for Maine.
• Pinette has two career goals against Bryant – both serving as game-winning goals – while Julie Lossius has one goal and two assists.
• The first-ever meeting between the two teams came in 2008 with a 1-1 tie.
 
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
• The Bearcats, who play at NJIT on Thursday night, stand at 7-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in America East play ... Binghamton got the better of Bryant in the 3-2 win this past Sunday, converting on both penalty kicks in the second half.
• Binghamton, who was tabbed first in the America East Preseason Coaches Poll, is riding a seven-game unbeaten streak, not having lost since dropping a 2-0 match at Monmouth back on Aug. 24.
• Jahkaya Davis leads Binghamton with six goals and two assists for 14 points while Paige Luke is also in double-digits with four goals and five assists.
• Goalkeeper Rebecca Kessler has started all 10 games, going 5-1-2 with a 1.00 goals against average, .795 save percentage and two shutouts ... Bella Grace Dunn is 2-0-0 in two appearances.

SERIES HISTORY vs BINGHAMTON
• Maine holds an all-time record of 7-11-7 against Binghamton.
• Last year in Orono, Maine picked up a 2-1 win on goals from Abby Kraemer and Kayla Kraemer ... Jordane Pinette recorded the assist on Kayla Kraemer's game-winning goal.
• Three of the last four meetings between these two teams have been ties while the last six of the last eight games have been decided by one goal or less.
• The first-ever meeting came back in 2002 with the Black Bears and Bearcats battling to a 0-0 tie.
